there were other cars around, they just aren't depicted in the image. Hell there was one car going across after me, but crossed before me because I got 'stuck'.

RUF, the nails/patches in the tires really sucks. They should have told you if there was a nail and discussed if you wanted it patched or replaced. That is a drivers call, not a shops call. Mantis, you are right, you don't want to use those tires at the track. Inferno

Hey Ruf, have you taken your TL-S into the dealer to have them confirm your tranny is failing?

ohh snap, I forgot to mention, I think I saw Ruf pulling into DMD the morning after he said he was taking his car into the shop.

I was a little ahead of you(nothing unusual there), heading east on Plano Parkway.

Not yet. It's still hanging in there. Just intermittent at this time. I'm wanting to make sure it is really going as it's only happened 4 times in the last week.

Yep, just traded my TLS for a new 04 TL . . .

ok, April Fools day is past, but what the heck . . . sounded like an interesting idea none the less.

I don't think I'd do it . . even in a heads up trade where I'd only have to pay for the difference in price between the 2. The new TL looks great from the front and side, looks great inside. Feels tighter and doesn't creak when backing out of my driveway. Better sound system . . . etc.

BUT . . I don't like the rearend and I don't like the fact that Acura has made it even more costly and difficult to mod the new TL.

Besides, I still love the way mine looks.

Heh, trying to fool some folks eh ? :P
Yeah I like the look of the new TL's, I don't like the fact that they all have "equality" in terms of power (not like the 02-03 TL and TL-S). I would not pay the money for the A-spec package or whatever, because that price is severely jacked.
Speaking of tranny's I just found out that my car is still on the original at 45k miles, and no signs of trouble yet, and I am a very "shift happy" person.
Best of luck with your TL-S.

Actually, from the depiction, you really should have slapped her in reverse, that is of course, if the picture is almost exactly where you stood in the intersection. Either that or looked for the slightest gap in traffic and pedal to the metal. My reason is you were not close enought to "the point of no return". Not trying to flame, just telling you what I see. Best of luck with trying to get it resolved though.
On a lighter (:flamer note, I have not been able to catch the guy with the white BR5's on the caddy. I hope to see him this weekend to get some pics for ya.

I used to come to Rangers games pretty often, always had a good time. Awesome on the free tickets.

I always enjoy Rangers games, but then, i hardly watch the games. Those boring games give me plenty of time to walk around and enjoy the scenery

hey boys,

just thought i'd say what's up...

it's the second week for me at my new job, and boy has it been busy... i swear the madness never stops, but that's how I work best...

hope everyone is well... looks like it from readin the posts.

sorry about your tranny Ruf. I should be doin the same soon as well, except, why spend the money on a rebuild when you could spend the same or less for a 5spd! I'm sure, you being clever enough, could find a way to swap a 5spd in. There's got to be another car with that same 3.2 V6 that had an available 5spd.

anyway... talk to you guys later!

I may go with the beefed up tranny option when mine goes at 100,001 miles and Acura won't pony up the $$$.

hey, do you any of you guys have the koni yellows on comptech springs? Is it rough? Does it bounce as much as with just the springs? I'm getting tired of my shocks being so crappy and the ride being so rough. Any advice?

I really like mine. At about the mid-point setting up front and a little more in the back, it's definitely a firm ride. Some roads can jostle the passengers if there's a lot of quick/repeated dips, but other than that it's great. The car's stance recovers much better than with the stockers -- much less bounce.

The only tranny option is the 6speed, but that's too much money. I did toss around the idea of going with a performance rebuilt tranny from Velocity Resources, but $2k was too $$$ . . . unless I had the bucks to do the 3.5 upgrade then it would be worth it. That would put me in the high 13s without NOS!

yeah... that's the one. He also had the 3.5L upgrade with the lower compression pistons. His tranny just went out in Washington DC while he was on a road trip there. now he's waiting for the tranny shop who built it up (on contract from Velocity) to repair it but they're taking forever and keep putting it off.

to be honest with you guys, I would never do business with Dean or Velocity. If you knew all the stories I herad from my friend, you'd feel the same way. They have poor business practicies and are not good for their word.

in one example, Austin had paid for his supercahrger months ahead and b/c they needed the money for their business they never ordered it. Austin was very undersatnding and let them get away with it.

Then the owner of Velocity promised him a free install of the supercharger as well as a free aftercooler if he'd just wait another month (this now being 5 months after Austin had paid for it). Because they are his sponsor he agreed and let them get away with it yet again. In the end they've given him nothing. He needed money for other things and so he sold the supercharger that they finally got for him after 6 months of having his money. They're POS but he does business with them b/c he sells comptech stuff and they are his distributor.

Bummer . . . sounds like we don't have a viable aftermarket tranny source . .

The current 3 all have a bad reputation.
- Acura
- Level 10
- Velocity

That's strike 3 and we're out of options.

I wonder how hard and costly the 6-speed option is? I'll have to check into it.

I'd say it's about a $3500 job with installation and all. Also you'll have to get a new ECU and probably some new gauges as well as modifying the interior for the clutch.

Damn. I had no idea Dean / Velocity was pulling that kind of shit. I didn't have any trouble getting my Koni's from them last fall.
