Does Microsoft intentionally design their software to not play well with other vendor's software? It seems like my microsoft made programs never encounter these problems with Windows, but all others do at some time or another. I find it hard to imagine that Microsoft employs all the smart programmers and therefore the glitch is always with the "other than Microsoft" engineers. In other words, I would have thought that people would understand Windows enough by now to not have these problems pop up - that is unless this is Bill Gate's not so subtle way of "out competing" his competition.

You have the same company writing the applications as created the API's the developers are using. You do the math.

Well to be a when you have to make an OS that supports just about every known type of hardware, there are bound to be issues.

That having been said, I havent had a Windows error in years simply because I build a proper machine and maintain it.

Since I've started using XP instead of 2000 I can't remember the last time I've had a major OS issue. I always had problems with 2000 no matter how many times I did a clean and proper install.

Sure I have my quarrels about features and usability. But it's still running. So I guess that's good.
