Windows XP service pack 2, damn thing
Windows XP service pack 2, damn thing
Since I recently installed the Windows XP service Pack 2 my internet explorer has been horrendously slow. It takes a long time to load pages (especially pictures) and even simple text websites load slowly. Before I installed the service pack i could run 3 to 4 websites and multitask inbetween them and it was fast as lightning but now it takes 10 minutes to load 2 pages at the same time. I feel like i'm back on dialup, this shit sucks! If anyone else has experienced this with the service pack being the problem and have any idea about a solution please let me know.
Also, has anyone ever removed a service pack before? I've heard its difficult for it to go smoothly if at all, but if it can work I'd like to do it so things run like they used to.
Thanks.

That is my company's stance right now, but we have a packaged .msi in place which automatically disables the ridiculous firewall for when the time comes. We're just going to roll it out via GPO.

I've installed it on many PC's & no problems. I do have the firewall turned off though.
I have to agree... there may not be apparent "problems" with SP2. I've had it since Day 1 and have had experience no bugs or unreliability.
My complaint stems from SP2 "features"
The tune-backs in IE have been a headache to developers. The firewall is never 100% off. Etc etc etc

Actually it is good for the n00bs who constantly click "yes" to those activex windows.
I have a client who has reduced his spyware problems after patching all their machines with SP2.
Granted, its all about common sense, but with n00bs common sense is too much asking.

One more thing I forgot to say... it takes some time to convince a
to start using Firefox, as it takes long to convince AOL users to quit that shit.

i still have aol but i refuse to install it on my home machine, granted i don't pay for it myself. I used to have to clean my registry each time a new beta came out. Since i got my laptop I just been more careful not to install shit like aol or kazaa or anything that comes with extras
