I am running XP and I get these pop up messages, they come from messenger service. Any ideas how I can block them

 

first, buy a cheap router and put your pc behind it. being directly connected to the internet is foolish. second, stop and disable your 'messenger' service. start>settings>control panel>administrative tools>services

right click on messenger, select properties, stop the service and change startup type to disabled.
