I'm getting a "The Server service hung on starting." error on W2003. That error is logged in the Event Viewer. It is blocking the Computer Browser and the Distributed File System services.

I've search MSDN and did not find much help there.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

 

Check to make sure there is not a duplicate computer name on the network.

 

It's happening on my LAN at home. There's only one computer at this time.

I can't find anything but I would try to start it manually and see what happens

 

It eventually started, but it was 15 minutes after the login screen appeared.

 

probably a bug in server 2003 I wouldn't doubt it at all. Do you have an offical copy or a early release?

 

Official release of W2003.

 

Do you have Active directory running?

Did it ever work? If so, what changed?
