Like Darksith said, When is your contract up? Also when was the last time you upgraded?
I've had almost all the phone services included Nextel/sprint, i switched when they merged but back when nextel was nextel they had the easiest sales department that you could get stuff from. I always bought the newest phone when it came out and they always gave me a deal on it, usualy below the upgrade price. Just talk to them right. Another thing is Nextel always seemed to have the most expensive phones. They look good, but not that featured packed as the other carriers devices.
Also be careful with the i880, every one i have seen have broke. Mainly the inside LCD would start showing upside down and then eventually go out completely. Also i don't remember it being so good with email. Consider the i930, its a bit chunkier but it does have windows mobile. its got the older version, WM 2003, but i believe u can upgrade the OS. and last look at the blackberry, if your going to use a phone for a lot of email and web browsing i would recommend this. just my

I have a BB 7100i.
the problem is I'm tired of paying $145 a month for service. But I heard the non BB email services suck compared to a BB or Treo. I may just wait out my Nextel contract and switch to another provider in August.

When the two first merged they would let you out of your contract if you switched between the two companies. of course you needed to sign a new contract. You should check and see if they are still doing that.
I got the Palm Centro a few weeks ago and have had no problems retrieving email with it. Also if you can get onto a SERO plan it is well worth it.

i am 95% sure you are still able to switch between the 2 at no charge, might even be able for some kind of free phone. But i notice alot of people will stay with nextel for the direct connect, or will go to sprint and use a hybrid!
Matt I may be able to help you out. I know someone who is a manager at a local sprint store. I personally have a 755p and have been with palm every since the 650 came out. So far this is what i got from your comments,
- Want something with email capabilities.
- I need to know how much you want to spend every month along with you data usage.
- I'll try to get more info on Sero since i have no idea how that works.
- Also note that in some areas nextel works better than sprint and vice versa.
I'll ask the guy a few questions today and will update this thread.

Ok just spoke to him, he wasnt able to give me any more info since I didnt have all the questions to ask.
-- You can switch your contract between the two networks without any charge.
-- Sero is only offered by someone who works for the corporate office, which he does not.
-- Data plans vary (i am sure you knew that) depending on what you want regarding air time minutes etc.
-- I have his number and mentioned you if you want to talk to him directly, he can help you out as far as phone/plan questions are concerned and also purchase.
