Contrast ratio: The ratio between between the brightest and darkest areas of an image. With a larger contrast ratio, a projector has a greater ability to show subtle color details and tolerate extraneous room light.

Also, if you're doing gaming, make sure you get one with a low response time - as in 20ms and lower.

if u can get your hands on a Dell 1702FP, its a SLEEPER!
Even though its advertised with a 500:1 contrast, it has been tested to have a ratio of 892:1!!!
