Video Editing Software
What's the best freeware video editing software? I know for photo editing is Paint.net and audio is audacity but what's out there for video editing?
Gimp is best for photo. But best free video I can think of is windows movie maker
There some open source stuff but none of it's good that I know of
If on Mac you can get latest iMovie for $15 from Mac app store and adobe premiere elements is pretty darn good too

Windows Movie Maker 2 is by far and away the best free editor. Although it has some very serious short comings, such as not supporting MKV or MP4 formats.
One of my clients does really cheesy horror shorts as a hobby/business. When he started he had never used a computer before and I taught him all the basics (still learning) and showed him how to use Windows Movie maker. That fit his needs for the first year or so but then he out grew it and started wanting more features so I upgraded him to Adobe Premiere Elements. Besides some occasional stability issues, PE has been great for him.
He learned all the basics in movie maker first though because it's easier to use. If you don't need features like multiple video and audio tracks the WMM should be fine for most tasks.
Here's his youtube page. His first 20-30 videos are with movie maker and the rest with PE.

http://www.lightworksbeta.com if anyone else has been looking. Not bad. A bit overly complicated though.
finalcutpro is fantastic, but not free.
either way, i think it is worth buying. immense options and functionality. takes a bit to get used to, but once you get it down it is a lot of fun.
