Verizon goes No Roaming
as of the 21st of feb all the new plans offered by verizon will include no roaming. you are grandfathered into an older plan if you want to keep it the same way you had it but we have expanded our network to cover a lot of the previous roaming areas.

I'm not totally familiar with Verizon's plans and that coverage map, but I know their phones. A lot of their newer phones do not have analog capability. And I've been to LOTS of places (out West) where there is only analog coverage, no digital CDMA anywhere. So you get NO ROAMING fees but there are a few places your phone doesn't work, is that right?

THey activated 70 more SIDS....and the map is pretty much covered if you look at it, 98% of all major cities are covered and they have the largest "NO ROAMING" coverage area to date....
Also nextel has no roaming as well, because if you roam you just dont get service..
Analog is getting phased you I am sure you know that as well it just doesnt pay to have it anymore..
phones cost more to make with analog in them..am i right?

basically your phone is either going to work on not work. kinda sucks cause we lost all our roaming in WV. the said that with the new footprint we are covering 500,000 more people across the country. we just bought out quest mobile out west which filled in a lot of utah and nevada

alot of it is moutains....so they are not gonna put up towers around where no one lives...

That map is not perfect. The open white area is the grand canyon and indian reservation which is likely all analog coverage. i-40 is covered for sure by sprint which mean it has verizon coverage, too (roaming or not roaming). you can see on the map how the top edge of the red follows kingman to flagstaff and dips a little south farther east before it turns north into new mexico.
