Easy way - pay $175 bucks.
Hard way - complain your ass off about service / signal / etc. Provide examples.

Cingular is good stuff where I live. Tell her to keep it since T-Mobile is so slow coming out with phones. In reality, T-mobile should be ok for reception but I prefer my Cingular...in any case tell her to file a greivance with the FCC and she can get out of her contract. easy pie.

cingular has great reception around here. It sucks they rip you off by giving you a new phone and add in 2 years to the contract. And the prices they charge for the phone are HIGH.

I was thinking on purchasing a new cingular phone from amazon (free after rebate) and then attach it to my family plan. I found out it will invalidate the rebate

Also porting a number invalidates the amazon.com rebate.

You can port numbers and still get your rebate. I've had plenty of clients that activated their first lines with Amazon and then come to my office to activate additional lines. Amazon has to abide by the WLNP laws...if not, I don't know how they make any money.

In any case, there are other e-merchants out there that offer rebates as well. Just make sure to make a copy of your receipts, rebate forms, etc etc before you send them off.

You might wanna check with your clients and see if they are receiving the rebates.

Check this out:

Cingular and Amazon.com have not yet established a method for customers to transfer their current number to a new Cingular account. Unfortunately, in order to port your previous number, Cingular will cancel the account that Amazon.com activated and will activate a new account with the ported number. This process makes you ineligible for the Amazon.com rebates. We hope to offer a porting option in the coming months, so please check back.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...16064#Cingular

Now, if they are activating additional lines on top of the first line (new number), then the customer will need to pay premium for those new activated phones. T-mobile does honors all the rebates thorugh amazon.com if they are attached to a family plan. Cingular says no.

There was even a huge discussion on howardforums about this. Some people it works, others don't...I guess my clients are those some people.

My Cingular contract states I will need to pay $10 per month required to fulfill the contract in order to quit. I have 3 months left, so it will be 30 bucks. I will wait of course. If that applies to your friend, then it will be around 240 bucks or so, you might wanna check.

does she want to get out of the contract so she can go to a different company??? if that is the case, then i know some companies will help u out with the termination fee... i see it all the time at Verizon... talk to the sales rep... alot of times, they talk to the manager and can credit the fee to your new account... kinda like a reimbursement.
