^ It happens. If you shut down the computer before the Outlook process stops (even though you closed the app) it can get corrupted (at least on Outlook 2000/2003).
Happens to me about once every three months, but it generally recovers from the exchange server.

I had a client who's drive had gotten a bunch of bad blocks but I was still able to access data. When I transferred the PST over to the new drive the .pst had become corrupted cause of bad blocks on the original drive but I ran scanpst.exe and that fixed the problem it worked from then on.

Stunna, any hex editor will work. You zero out the first five or six bytes of the PST to make sure scanpst.exe. can work.

Sometimes the header is not completely corrupted, and ScanPst.exe does not correctly work... SO, if you wipe out the header, it works every time!

It's a little different. Might take a day or two to get used to the "look" of it. Same program, only better search added and a few new items.

Not a mater of better/worse.
I see no reason to PAY for outlook at home, when TB3 exists. Truthfully, I use TB very little at home, but at work use it to separately manage multiple gmail accounts that I use. I like Xobni, but again, for the full features, you have to pay, and it is an add on panel that needs screen real estate, not integrated into the pre-existing Outlook footprint..

Probably the main reason I went back to TB2 on the Mac is that the TB3 icon on the dock will always show me how many unread messages I have in my inbox. I have a lot of unread stuff. TB2 will show me how many unread messages I have since the last time I actually clicked on it. So with TB2 if I see a bird with no number I know nothing new has shown up in say the last 10 minutes. With TB3 I can't easily tell because there is always some number there.
It's a small but annoying thing and I could find no way to change the behavior in the options.

Thunerbird user here. Works great for me but I haven't tried TB3 yet. Once I get home from Mexico (yes,
) I'll give it a shot.
