What Would Don Draper Do?
but i wonder how much money they made (if any at all) because i remember reading they spent a ton on marketing it.

They spent a ton on marketing and charged $99 for the phone. Granted they got a lot of 2 year contracts out of the deal but they couldn't have really profited that much.

but around the time the instinct was released, sprint was losing a lot of customers so i guess it was a success to hold onto and bring in new customers.
anyways, i'm still meh on the design of the pre, but i still want to check it out when it's released.

Prolly will get some more news here in the next couple day. There's a big Mobile conference officially starting tomorrow. That's where MS is unveiling Win Mo 6.5 and every company is unleashing new phones with like 80megepixel cameras in them, it's the new thing. Other than that, this was released yesterday

They announced that Palm is joining Adobe's Open Screen Project and the Palm Pre will support Flash!! So you may be able to make flash apps/games for the phone.

I actually had an apple employee scoff at the notion of flash and ask rhetorically "why would you want flash on your iphone?" me = flabbergasted
Can't wait for a pre!

the pre looks like a next-gen iphone. i love my iphone but i can see this being better, the advantage being that the pre is basically an iphone with improvements so it's not as hard to design whereas the iphone design was pretty revolutionary. they're all moving towards being a full fledged mini-pc one step at a time.
i'm not surprised the 3G iphone only limits 1 app at a time. having an iphone for 6 months, you can tell where the processor hits its limit and the phone gets sluggish for a second or two. now pre is probably able to take advantage of newer and cheaper processors.

Got this from Sprintusers from the 11th...
We just got a tip from a very proven tipster who informed us that Palm and Sprint were set to make a big announcement in the Wall Street Journal on May 19th. They said that there’s a very good chance of Palm and Sprint announcing the Pre release date then. Confusing, eh? Well, if we were betting boys, our money would be on Tuesday the 19th. We will soon see!
Looks like we might be finally getting a release date.

i had a treo 650 and it was cool, just too big. Then got a Centro and I really like it. I was going to leave Palm but now with the Pre, I am most likely going to get it. I have been with Sprint for over 8 years now and I love the fast data network and I love the $15 a month unlimited data plan. Actually did a download speedtest and got a 1.6mbps reading..i did three tests to be sure..not bad at all!! The Pre looks really nice and I love how you can keep multiple apps open at the same time, unlike the Centro
