My son wants and iPhone, but I bet he will get an EVO... whats up with the rumors that there may be a surcharge for 4G... HECK! I already spend too much cash on service as is!

I started a Palm + HTC, thread that became a Palm + HP thread.... LOL

Just pulled this off Palm.com

Version information

* Version: webOS 1.4.1.1
* Release date: 31 March 2010

New applications

NONE

... I think the WEB OS is gonna die before WINMO... pretty sad!
... When I used my friends EVO, there was a swiping motion when moving thru the menus... gives you a web OS flashback...LOL

I was hoping HTC would pick up Palm's WebOS. Imagine some snapdragon goodness with that. Hopefully, HP can pull something off so that the mobile market can become even more interesting. Supposedly, they're working on a WebOS tablet. Might be interested in that if its any good.

webos 1.4.5 is out overseas and should be ot shortly here in the states. It brings pdk acces to all developers, not just a select few. Webos 2.0 is due out before the end of the year which will bring some good apis and major speed improvement.

if they don't deliver a new phone before the end of the year with really good specs and hardware I'm going to look elsewhere.

on a side note I am currently running my Pre at 1ghz (1.2ghz available too) and the phone just flies.

HP is so stiff... I hope they think outside the box... Android has the market cornered right now... and their OS feels alot like the webos, but with less swiping and no errors in movement on the screen... just have to hurry up and wait...

I will have to look up the 1.4.5 and see what its like.... I may keep my Pre on my 5th line and let it float there for a while...I just hate the feeling that we may lose all support for these devices here in the US market....are the Palm phones doing really well in other markets?
I know that most peeps do not root and customize their phones... what ROM are you running rite now with it overclocked? Must be hella stable...

WebOS isn't going anywhere. Jon Rubenstein CEO of Palm said a few weeks ago that WebOS 2.0 will be out later this year. I'd expect modern hardware with it as well.

I don't know what to get...I need to get rid of this thing.

I'm not even messing around with it anymore.

I need to decide if I'm staying with Sprint or not. I really want the iPhone but I'll be paying double what I pay now for mine and the wife's Pre.

Might have to get the Evo or the new Samsung but I'll have the same battery problems I have now.

It's 12:50 and I'm at 4% battery, WTF?!

1. Install preware
2 intall uberkernel or ur favorite
3 enable compcache memory n bump up to 1.2Ghz if you want.
4 enjoy the results until you get ur new device.

get an extended battery for 60 bucks. Lol

phones with an AMOLED screen have much better battery life according to my friend who works at at&t, he has one of the samsung phones and he loves it.

as for me i have the same frustrations as you, i cant wait to dump this garbage and get a Droid X or Droid 2 or one of the samsung phones. im still torn, but its happening before the end of the year

I'm up for an upgrade but do I want to get another 2 year contract with Sprint?

I'm lost. I wish Apple would just sell their phones to other providers.

Imminent launch of the Palm Pre II
Palm renews its partnership with SFR to launch within days its new Palm Pre II. This new edition of "Pre" will be sold exclusively at the online store operator, and then arrive in a second time "Espace SFR" in early November. The Pre II remains in the same vein as its predecessors aesthetically; Nevertheless, what is obvious is that the screen is larger and less rounded. Other material changes, it would be equipped with a new 1Ghz processor, coupled with an internal memory of 521mo. What do enjoy the new version of the operating system and its WebOS 2.0 multiplayer spots very powerful.
Below, the first exclusive pictures of the device lives.

translated from here:

I am trying to find pics right now...

It looks almost identical to the Pre Plus in pictures, it's the improved materials and manufacturing that counts.

The Pre with the touchstone back is less slippery

I completely agree though, the slick surface feels nice but it isnt practical.

webos 2.0 better bring some basic features wit it though.

right now I'm running at 1Ghz, so that's not really an improvement.

now if reception is at leats 3 times better, and battery is improved because of the new processor then I might consider getting one.

The new processor is supposedly much better regarding power consumption. Webos 2.0 is designed to be 'smarter' with its multitasking. We'll see how it turns out, now that HP owns Palm there should be some serious $$$ to help out the R&D.

And does it really have two slits to place your ear? I guess with dual mics and an accelerometer it wouldn't matter which side was up or down.

I really think its like the PP1, where the bar was the earpiece and there is a small hole for the mic...the other "bar" is actually a light (a styling cue from the Pixi and PP1 Plus) instead of a lighted ball like the PP1...

I just got another replacement Pre (#5 since June of 2009) and the screen doesn't lock up when it's next to my ear. All of them did it before and I can't find any settings for it. Anyone have any clue how to change that setting?
