Neither my wife or I have had issues with our Pre(s)

Several guys I work with have them too and no complaints

Ive used a palm for years. Im a bit bias but I can tell you this much. the older fones although slow as shit where built lika rock. You can throw it out your window going 100mph and it'll be fine. The new Palm I picked up the day it came out, went through 3 already. Im still loyal as it has impressive software but whoever built these new pre's built them very fragile. They will get it right. remember they are the original touch screen!

I agree that the Pre is not built as strong as older Palms but I wouldn't say that the Treo's were that strong.

I remember one falling out of my pocket as I was getting in the car and the screen cracked. 1 foot drop.

I've had the Treo 600, Treo 650, Treo 700, Centro and Pre now and I can honestly say this is probably my last Palm product. I'm sick of having to go to the store to get them fixed. All of them have had 3-6 month shelf lives except for the Centro; that IMO was the most reliable.

The too many cards open has reared its ugly head alot since the 1.4 update. I think that update was not ready since alot of thing were broken and bugs introduced. prepare yourself for 1.4.1.

I still have my 650 three 700p's, 755p and a Centro torn down somewhere. Other than dropping the earlier phones on either the screen or antenna they were like tanks.

I am also disilusioned with Palm as they are a smartphone manufacturerer and knew what was needed. The Pre has a great OS and potential, but it was not ready and still is not ready.

The evo looks promising, but we'll see since its android. If something better comes along and the Pre has not been updated in a way to where its more usefull I will have to say I too will be looking elsewhere.

My wifes Touch Pro2 with Spb Mobile shell is actually pretty enjoyable, and if it keeps seeming that way Im going to have to take it for myself.

With the CDMA iPhone lurking out there somewhere, the Hurt is gonna be put on Palm when it hits... Palm has about a 10% market (+ / - 5% ) share as it is... all this craziness with the Pixi and the Pre is gonna have to cease or Palm is gonna tank! Which I hate to say, b/c I really like their products better than most of the others...

I've been a loyal Palm fan since my 755 back in 2007 but after replacing my Pre 4 times already, it's getting to be a PITA.

I agree Brotha, I have been a Palm head for years (since my Palm V)... you have had an experience with the Pre like I did with the HTC TP 1... ... it not very comforting!

same here.

this is my fourth refurb and all my refurbs were pure crap. That's how I found out that the weren't refurbishing them at all and simply polishing them and sending them back out.

my current refurb I have right now because they had sent me 2 refurbs in one week which were also crap and since they didn't show up as returne d I had to wait until I could return my current one.

so far I'm really hating the build quality and thinking bout going to my 755p if this stupid memory crap doesn't get fixed soon.

yall send Palm some emails about this crap so they know. I mean everyone and their mother has already emailedqcalled etc, but a couple more won't hurt.

I'm also on my 4th (I believe) and this is the first one that I have a button problem with.

Open cards has been a pretty consistent problem. My fiance just got the Pre also, haven't seen any problems with hers yet (only been about a month).

Great OS, shitty build

palm = bad financial earnings = now looking to sell the company = no upgrade in the quality of their product anytime soon.

palm = dead horse.

way to rub it in

no but hopefully HTC buys em and they keepsupporting webos and the current devices.

Las time Palm went with HTC they made the Treo Pro and that's a well made piece. Unfortunatey it's windows and resolution is not great.

The thing that worries me at the moment is wether or not updates are going to keep rolling out on a semi regular mothly basis like it has been.

webos is to me the best mobile os out there right now with the most potential. There's always a BUT though, so the fact the os needs to be finished and fully baked isn't helping right now.

I guess I'm going to have to try out android on the evo or see what devices windows 7 comes on. Has anyone noticed though that windows mobile 7 looks and behaves alot like webos though.

I reinstalled the 800mhz patch and im liking my Pre again. I had to uninstall for 1.4.1.1 and didnt want to reinstall until I knew the phone was operating correctly.

On a side note I bought a funky case (kinda like the seidio) that the front piece is a black chrome and the rear is the rubber material and black chrome. It looks pretty decent and gave the phone a gerth it needed. especially when the keyboard was open. Now it feels more solid. Unfortunately that means no touchstone charging, but with this refurb its always been hit or moss regardless.

I have no idea about the TL, but after you make the TL discoverable the rest should be cake.

I dont know how the touchpro1 was, but my wifes touchpro2 with spb mobile shell is actually pretty nice.

I'm actually thinking about trying out my wifes old Treo Pro and updating to windows 6.5 with mobile shell to see how I like. (I really like the Pro form factor)

let us know how this case works for you... also, the TP2 seems to work very well compared to the mongoloid TP1

Have you checked precentral? I think i remember a thread about there being issues between the pree and gps units. Something about the pre not being able to transfer contacts or something like that cause the Pre didnt see it as either a car kit or handsfree or something along those lines.

Im not familiar with this newer gps units, what exactly do they do over bluetooth?

I'm planning on buying a GPS and hard wiring it into the car. If I do that, if the phone works flawlessly with the GPS system, I'll be able to use bluetooth in the car (using the GPS as the microphone and the GPS will be hardwired into the car, allowing me to hear the other person through my speakers).

I guess bluetooth isn't THAT important but I'll try to sync the Pre with my buddy's garmin 760 tonight. If it works I guess I'll buy it.

LOL just broke my 2nd seidio case 2 days ago. Ended up just crazy gluing the front panel at the 6 o'clock position to my pre. They replaced the 1st one no questions asked, just shot them an email. Now I'm outside of warranty tho. What a cheap piece of crap, those little tabs holding the case to the phone are like <1 mm
