AT&T just switched to Cingular...

crazy thing... so I have my new v600 that I'm happy about... I'm sitting here at home, I glance at it briefly, and notice it says "Emergency Only" as the network status.. I'm like wtf?? So I turn it off and back on, and now it says "No Service". So I'm like, whatever. I glance back at it about an hour later, and now it says "Cingular Wireless"..... it's wrong that they can have this much control over my phone. :P :o

Perhaps your phone is locking onto different channels, base stations, or towers. Each has a label....GSM sends the carrier ID to the handset. Sounds like at that hour of the morning, some changes are happening.

You should know that the carrier/network has almost complete control over your phone. Why wouldn't they?

alot of tmobile phones go into emergency only when on att networks or cingular networks because they are locked out of that network....or cant get on it..

it's cool...better then paying roaming fees!
