AT&T/Cingular

The next step of the merger has begun, this morning my phone changed from AT&T to AT&T/Cingular. I have not noticed any better coverage in dead spots. Hopefully that will be fixed soon.

Still AT&T here ... and based on going to the store today seems like myself and most of the others in NC will have their phone saying SUNCOM in a few weeks. :wtf: So glad they decided to sell my area off to non-Cingular to meet the monopoly concerns

Well - it's not so much that you will "stay" Cingular as they will continue to market Cingular services in NC. However, all the assets that were once AT&T WS will not be moved to Cingular. I guess I would have questions like roaming arrangements for anyone but Cingular. I am likely going to cutover to Cingular regardless as they are gonna be best to handle corporate accounts like IBM. Plus ... I think with my job rollover will be good because my minutes can be spikey.

We'll see ... let me know what you guys find. I have a call in to my corporate AT&T rep to help explain it (especially given his voicemail says he is Cingular now ... not SunCom! )

the Carolina's and Puerto Rico are not included in the Cing merger. We'll be part of Suncom, with doesn't exist here currently, so I guess it means nothing will really change for us. They'll use ATTWS towers. I wonder if we'll be able to break out contract over it.

1-866-787-8826 will get your ATTWS customer service.

it is funny though, you call the cingular customer service, and they have access to all your information even though we should in no time be a Cing customer.

Last night my phone would not connect to other AT&T phones. Had to call customer service which still SUX, took 20mins to get someone on the phone and when i finally got someone the only answer they could give was turn the phone on and off again. Which of course didn't work. Another interesting thing I found out is that we will eventually have to switch to a cingular phone, the claim the AT&T phones dont have the necessary software to be fully functional on the cingular network.

Did anyone else get that email about the merger? Stating on Nov 15 all should switch over and we will get rollover mins, mobile to mobile with cingular customers, etc.

if you switch to cingular any 39.99+ cingular plans have rollover and mobile 2 mobile. and if you have attws and mobile 2 mobile on the account then you have mobile 2 mobile not only with attws customer but also cingular wireless customers.
