AT&T and Bluetooth
AT&T and Bluetooth
I was thining of swithing to AT&T fo Verizon cause they have th Motorola V600 with Bluetooth, has anyone had any good/bad experiences with AT&T and the Motorola V600.
I have AT&T, and am looking to upgrade my phone. I picked up the V600 the day before it came out and had it for one night, then brought it back. The phone does just about everything - except, dial the number you ask for using voice tags (ie You press a button, it makes a tone and then you say the name of the person you want to call. The V600 finds that person in your phonebook - then you have to hit send to place the call vs the phone just dialing the number).
The reason why this was a deal breaker for me was because with a blue tooth phone, you can use blue tooth headsets that have the ability to use a phones voice tag system. You put on the headset, say a name, and the call is placed without you ever having to touch the phone (which can be in your pocket, in your coat in the back seat of your car, so long as it's within like 30 feet of you). Since the V600 still needs you to press send to place the call, it defeats part of the purpose of have a blue tooth headset.
So, I gave up on finding an AT&T, blue tooth (with voice dialing capibility) phone. Instead, bought a Jabra FreeSpeak for non-blue tooth enabled phones (I have a nokia 6360 - which has voice dialing) - and I have all the capabilities I need. It’s a great “crutch” that does what I need it to do while I wait for new phones, with the features I’m looking for, to come out.

AT&T is, in my opinion, the worst carrier out there right now.
I'm not sure how bad it is in NY, but according to one of AT&T's own customer service reps, they have "degrading service in California" at this time. When I first got the phone back in 11/03, I had service in my house. By the time I terminated the service (4/04), I had little to no service in my house.
There was a bunch of other product & service issues including, but not limited to, a terrible phone, T721, regular dropped calls, and their seeming incompentence when it came to correcting my freaking name on the bill.
All that was enough reason for me to suffer the $175 early termination fee. It also helped to know that AT&T would be losing out of an additional $200 of my money.

I was ready to give up on ATT and go with VErizon, but I was also looking into an upgrade on the phone. Verizon was just slow as fuck when it came to coming out with new phones so I went to the ATT dealer and they had new phones everywhere I looked. I tried out the service for 30 days and havent had any complaints so far. I thin my problem frombefore stemed more from my piece of shit Siemens S46 phone instead of the service. I'm happy with the upgrade to the V600.
I still havent gotten around to get a wireless headset yet.
