Steve Jobs: "I'm going to destroy Android"

Mini Steve Jobs
Though we all knew it, now we have it in writing: Steve Jobs really hated Android, according to his biography, which will hit store shelves on October 24. Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson is said to detail what Jobs really thought about the competition, according to the AP, who purchased a copy before its official release.
"I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong... I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this."
"I don't want your money... I want you to stop using our ideas in Android..."
Pimp, that's against Apple's closed architecture policy. This is the only reason why I was never an Apple fanboy. However, they led to some amazing new innovations in design and efficiency, which is A+ in my book.

From what I've read here and there, it seems Steve Jobs was a brilliant innovator and well regarded businessman, but lacked on personal skills.
He was supposedly difficult to work for and work under. I don't think he had many close personal relationships. I find it telling that after his death, I heard a lot of "the world lost a true genius" but not once did I hear "I've lost a friend" from any close industry people.

'Turning' means you actually liked him in the first place.
I loved my Apple IIe, various Ipods, Itouches etc, but when Android did everything an Iphone could do and wasn't as regulated by a corporate giant, I went to Android.

I think Jobs has been given too much credit for the success of Apple. Because the devs and engineers who actually made gestures work didn't do anything. Jobs was the marketing genius in front of a huge team of talented people. Jobs could sell ice cubes to an Eskimo and that is all he could have done if it weren't for the engineers cowering in the corner.
All Jobs did is manage to erase any sense of independence and free choice of the public by presenting monochromatic product wearing monochromatic clothes on a monochromatic stage. The 4 million lemmings who lined up last week for a 4Gs are color blind robots with no free will... And they like it that way.

I think there are many that feel about Jobs now also felt the same while he was living. My personal feeling he was a marketer, often ignoring those that assisted him and refusing to acknowledge the ideas of those which eventually found their way into Apple products. He created an entity and marketed it to a generation that were made to feel it was a required component of their lives. In a business respect I applaud him, but his refusal to admit or acknowledge that his products were often a cumulation of ideas pioneered by others assures that the only Apple products I will ever purchase are MacBooks.

I hated apple for years...seemed just so arrogant, and hated the fan boy culture. But, hands down they did some AMAZING engineering feats that people can only hope to copy. Tablets were out YEARS ago, but they're only supremly popular now because of apple. And, after LAUGHING at the people dying for an IPhone just a few years back, I now have one...
You could say the Apple took me kicking and screaming to heaven, and I think the core reason for that was Jobs' obsession (yep engineers did the work, but it was probably his unrealistic expectations and attention to detail that helped to deliver the products)

what amazing engineering feats? MP3 player? I think not as they were 3 years late Mp3man was first HDD MP3 player? I think not as Compaq was first...Iphone? I think not as Windows mobile and phones with MP3 players and cameras were already present.
Apple is marketing and NOTHING else they sold a whole not of suckers on marketing and that was it......

Another ignorant ass comment from you....
It's not untrue (well his last statement is) it just completely misses the point behind the success at apple. It's not about doing it first it's about doing it better than anyone else. Compare ease of use of Windows Mobile to iOS
