Sprint Question: Transfer Contract Owner?

With Sprint, is it possible to transfer a contract from one person to another?

I have an EVDO contract which I can't use until the new ExpressCards come out. I have a friend who would take over the contract if possible.

Ideally I'd want to do this and get a clean slate so I could get an ExpressCard at discount and as such a new contract when the time comes.

Even if you can do that, which I don't believe you can, you won't get the discount. If you have been a Sprint customer in the past 18 months you are disqualified.

My contract expired last year, then I used my girlfriends phone for a few months while she was out of the country. When I tried to buy a new phone and contract from Sprint they said I couldn't get the discount. Stupidest business model I've ever seen.

Well I've heard of Cingular doin the contract transfer, but never heard of it from Sprint.
They might also do it, but most likely give u a hard time before doin so.

Oh yeah, my current phone is under my girlfriends name. They would not let me transfer the contract over without paying the $150 fee.

I can't imagine that they would want to take the risk of losing a potential customer just because of they don't want to give a discount. For years cellular companies have worked around that with the 1 or 2 year contracts with early termination feeds. What's so different about this?

They may as well give their client base to other companies if that's the case.

p.s. I'm not raggin on Spring. I'm a very happy Nextel, err I mean Sprint Customer.

ugh. I guess i'll call and see if I can get anywhere. Based on past experience with Sprint customer service, I imagine I wont.
