My friend who upgraded from ME to XP Pro had problems with couple programs, one is Ahead Nero, forget the others. I iupgraded from 2000 to XP Pro and everything plugged flawlessly, another friend of mine who upgraded from 2000 to XP pro also didn't encounter problem, this might be because 2000 & XP are from the same root (NT) , while ME is of 95.
One of my coworker's sister's father-in-law installed XP on his machine and Office 2K didn't work. I don't know if the install just corrupted the Office files or if there's something more shady going on.

I upgraded from ME (but I did a clean install instead of the upgrade), and so far everything has either worked out of the box or there was a patch available for it.
Office 2000 works perfect for me.
Easy CD Creator should have updates available soon, according to their website. Remember, XP has basic CD burning capabilities built into the OS (it's a light version of Easy CD Creator), so that may be enough to hold you until the patch comes out.
Nero already has an update (5.5.4 I believe) that works with XP, which is what I use since it supports my DVD-RW and Easy CD Creator does not.
All of my hardware - network, video, Promise Ultra ATA/100 controller, zip drive, DVD-RW, CD-RW, digital camera, digital camcorder, card reader, printer - have been supported by the drivers that came with XP. Only piece of hardware I haven't tried yet is my racing wheel (for NASCAR 4), but I have read on the net that both the wheel and the game are supported.
Also, don't forget to do Windows Update after you install. I did, and there was already a critical update available, as well as an updated video driver for my machine.
Bottom line - XP rocks!

I upgraded to XP from ME with no problems, but this is what i did. You cant just jump into a new OS and think everything will work. I got all the drivers for all the devices, downloaded them. I downloaded all the xp updates for any of the software in my system that was important to me. Easy cd creator still doesnt have an xp update, but nero does and it works fine. I installed xp, then installed the drivers. I have been surfing smooth ever since and havent been this happy since win 95 came out.

I went from 2K to XP w/o any hassle. It's better to do a clean install though if you have the patience. Upgrades leave a lot of garbage around that can cause some headache down the road even if the initial upgrade goes smooth. If you are going from 9x (95/98/Me) then I definately recommend that you do a clean install because the internals are so different. If you are running NT4 or 2K this is less important, but still advised.
