Hey guys....last weekend my brand new Sony Ericsson T637 camera phone went for a ride in the washing machine.....thanks to mom washing my already clean clothes.....anyway, i thought i lost it for good....then it started coming back to life by the next day. Now, pretty much everything works except text messaging. whenever i go into the txt message inbox, or anything to do with messaging on the menu....it just freezes and needs to be restarted....

i already bought a new AT&T phone on ebay, to use but i'd like to know what i can do with this one....i don't have insurance on it....so this creates a few questions...

1) dunno if i can turn on insurance and tell them i'm giving the phone to a different person in the house (less responsible) and use that as an excuse....then claim the accident in around 4 months from now(my 1-yr date is in 8 months.....[upgrading 3 phones])

2) i also dunno if i qualify because technically the phone works.....powers on, calls, only the txt messaging doesn't work.....

if i can do these things, then i'll activate insurance and get it replaced, and either sell the one i just bought or sell the new one brand new....

You dont need to give them excuses why you want to add Insurance. If you have cingular when you put the Insurance on just make sure the phone is able to receive calls because they test that out. You can make the claim a couple weeks after Insurance is added, you don't have to wait 4 months.

they might but they will send you through XBM (exchange by mail) and if they open it up and find water damage they will charge you.

 

not if i have the complete insurance.......i called up and ordered today and the guy said that with the complete insurance, EVERYTHING is covered.....u could run it over, take a shower with it, swim with it, flush it down the toilet, anything and they'll fix it.....i'm sure water damage is covered...

oh yeah and it covers electrical malfunctions too.....so it's cool....especially if it happens from some kind of physical damage factor....if that makes sense.....i'll let u know how it goes....

 

Is the text messaging working on your other phone?

On my phone I had a problem but it was my simcard not my phone, and also does Cingular let you add Insurance after 30 days? T-Mobile Doesnt

 

yeah lockline insurance is totally different, i thought you meant like do a warranty exchange with a water damaged phone.
