I just signed a new contract with sprint. Moved on from att & blackberry, even though I loved it until I broke it last night.
So what cool stuff can I do with this phone. Only had it for about an hou so still exploring.

I believe zguy95135 has one. Check out the Android thread for more stuff that you can do with the phone. https://acurazine.com/forums/technology-16/android-phone-news-discussion-thread-775979/ All Android phones are pretty similar so what can run in one most likely runs on the other.
Everything you ever wanted to know about the Epic 4G can be found at XDA:

For accessories, cases, screen protectors specifically:

Remember that the Galaxy S phones have Gorilla glass so that a screen protector isn't really necessary but it may scratch the capacitive touch buttons because they're not made of Gorilla glass.

Hey, guys... I cancelled my Sprint with my Epic. Went back to Tmobile and my BB's. I dont know what I want. lol. But I miss the Epic. Just HATED the battery life compared to my BB that I charge like every 3 days or 2 days instead of every night with the Epic. Do any of these mods or rooting make battery wayy better? Enough to go back to it. I used my Epic for 2 months and put it back in the box. Hate spending that money and now just sitting there.
How is the new EVo Shift? Does sprint have like a trade in policy?

You could try turning off data when you're not using it but then that defeats the purpose of having a smartphone. If you really want to get a smartphone, the best thing to do is get one of those bigger capacity batteries on the downside of a somewhat bulkier device or carry a second battery which you can switch to. As for a phone to recommend, I would wait it out a few more weeks. The dual core Android phones are coming and theoretically, they should improve battery a little by splitting the workload of the processor.
As far as battery goes, most smartphones unfortunately do not get more than one day of normal usage. That's just the nature of smartphones at the moment. Custom ROMs may help somewhat but in the end, you will still not get more than 1 and a half day of usage unless you use the phone strictly just for texting and talking.

There are some extended batteries that require a new back cover and make the phone slightly bulkier and then there are some that have bigger capacity and don't require a new back cover. Check out the Epic 4G accessories thread for some suggestions:

If I were you, since you still have the phone, don't port your number yet. You can still use the phone without service. Play around with the phone and root, flash custom ROMs. Even without service, you can somewhat guage the battery life of the phone. Besides, you can still do wireless calling with SIP apps like SIPDroid, Fring, maybe Skype, and whatever other apps use Wifi for calling. You can even send and receive free texts to any mobile using Google Voice. What I'm trying to say is, without a cell service, your phone is still very capable of being a phone.
