Im looking into getting a dash but im in the middle of a contract. I found a used one on ebay for like 120 and i noticed that its for myfav. I dont have the my fav plan, i just have a regular 700 minute package with unlimited text, no data rate included. If i were to get the dash could i still use it with my current plan? Also, is anyone knows, does the internet work through wifi? or through broad band? ie would i have to pay extra to surf the net?

 

To answer your question, yes, the dash would work with your current plan (granted it is unlocked or works with your current provider).

You don't need the myfav plan to use it...it's just an "extra" feature if you do decide to use that plan, but will be just like any other phone otherwise without the plan. Same with data, you don't need a data plan to use it (text messaging is separate from "data").

As for the internet part, wi-fi pretty much is broad-band without the wires. The phone, if equipped with wi-fi which i think the dash is, can use data from either a data plan (EDGE network) or wi-fi. If you have broadband in your house and a wireless router, you have a wi-fi hotspot in your house. if your office has a wireless network and you can log in wirelessly to access the internet, your office is a hotspot. You would not need to pay extra to surf on wi-fi because it's not using the cellular network.

If your school has wifi yes you can surf to your hearts desire! My boy does that with his I-phone and loves it!

As for the Dash, I just got one for my girlfriend for our anniversary! Boy is she gonna love it. She's always asking to see the Q when visiting. Now she has her own!

Make sure you check out some dash forums and also howardforums for info on getting your dash upto speed
