Question on Sprint end of contract?

My contract is up on April 6th. I paid for this month already. I really don't want another contract. I have some friends who have said if I don't renew I'm put on a month to month basis. Is this right? Do I have to renew a contract? I'm happy with my plan, & phone, & just don't want to be locked in.

Thanks

I've read here that people get charged a monthly fee for doing this, but I don't have sprint so I can not confirm.

no, it automatically goes to month-month at the end of your contract.

..yeah, you'll be on month to month... mine's been up for almost 2 years now... and I like my plan... I think they know that what I have now is a really good deal, and is constantly sending me "incentives" to try and get me to renew a contract... but even with the cheesy 5% off... I'm still better off with what I got now.

If I called an asked would Sprint force me to renew? Give me some line about they will kill service if I don't renew? Should I just keep my mouth shut?

NO, they won't... I don't think that's ethical

Yes, you go month to month. They can't force you to renew. But remember, every 18 months you are eligible for a $150 rebate when you buy a new phone, but must sign at least a one-year contract. But if you're happy with your phone, then I guess you wouldn't care.
