they are changing because they have to..the goverment gave them alot of money to leave and go to a diff. frequency because the local gov. agencys were using the current frequencys...

I don't know what it means, but honestly my reception in Orlando at times blows! I drive to Melbourne and get horrible reception along 520 which is about 20 minutes of my drive. I am starting to get sick of Nextel, the two way works sometimes, and the service is beginning to bother me more and more. On top of that I want to get a new phone but all their phone prices are expensive! plus you have to sign a two year contract. I mean give me a break, all the other companies sell new phones for dirt cheap, with color screens, camera phones, and whatever. just my rant, sorry

Go to a 3rd party dealer and get the phone, do a 1yr contract or no contract at all, they just resell the phones for a good price usually. This is how I got my nextel, even though I still have my other phone. I can't get nextel service in my house or office, but outside them I am perfectly fine.

A little kiosk in the mall, they usually sell phones for multiple companies.
