Question about gamma interference
I am having trouble with my computer monitor. It seems to just go haywire all on it's own and then eventually it fixes itself. The screen basically becomes extremely distorted out of nowhere, like watching snow on the TV. What causes this and how can I fix it. I busted out the old CRT tonight cause it was really acting up this time. I fucking cannot stand this and hate using my CRT monitor as it give me a headache at any refresh rate and resolution. I feel like I am looking into a fishbowl.
Here is what I am talking about btw:
I think it is magnetic interference or a severe gamma issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Doesn't look magnetic or gamma related. Are LCDs even affected by magnets? I know CRTs are and if the replacement monitor isn't having in any weird artifacts then it isn't magnetic. My guess would be bad solder on the monitor circuit board or possibly bad connector on the monitor or even bad cable. Is the CRT hooked up using the same cable as this monitor?
FYI, click on the image, it's actually a video.

It's an Acer AL1912, I think it is a few years old. I'm thinking it may just be age too. I'm sick of it going nuts on me like this.

It's not magnetic, magnets on a CRT monitor turns everything the colors of the rainbows and it's very obvious and if that isn't happening on the CRT it's not magnets causing issues with the LCD either.
Try using the same cable that you used to connect your LCD to connect the CRT. Or do you have a neighbor who's monitor you could borrow to test and see if it's the cable or the LCD? If you use a neighbor's LCD and your cable for your LCD and their LCD isn't showing similar issues then the problem is with your LCD. Have you checked for a loose connection and tighten your cables down?
