Personalized internet radio

I built up a really nice set of playlists/preferences in Pandora a long, long time ago (last used my Pandora account 4+ years ago?!). I started to move away from it when they started increasing the advertising and limiting the number of skips though.

I hopped back on the website and they now have a subscription version called Pandora One. It's $36/year which isn't bad... comes with higher quality audio, no ads and more skips. Anyone try it out or something similar before? I've really grown to appreciate higher quality audio over the years. I rarely listen to in-car radio because I hate the quality/static and the music selection, but that's another thread.

In a nutshell, I really listen to everything.... but I don't like everything, if it makes sense. Maybe it's just been a while, but it would be nice if I could thumbs up an artist instead of just a song too.

if you like pandora then you should check out grooveshark. It's like Pandora and Napster had a baby. All of the content is user uploaded. You can search for any song you want and then create a playlist. If you're tired of your playlist, you can click a button and it turns into internet radio, playing songs for you based on what's in your list and you have the option to like or dislike. It's free and no ads. The only thing that sucks is that if you want to use it on your phone i think you have to be a VIP user which is like 6 bucks a month.

At two dollars a month, I think it would be worth a shot. The only time I like listening to Pandora is while doing homework and during that time I don't mind the ads.

I have the Zune Pass, so I normally download a bunch of music and use smart DJ if I want a blend of similar music for the road. My friend had a paid Pandora account to use during his drives. The only thing complained about was poorer audio quality whenever he had low signal on is phone.

Check out Slacker. It is what I use in tangent with Pandora. You can create your own stations or modify existing ones. It allows for more skips and resets the skip counter faster than Pandora.

Slacker radio user here. Mainly since pandora wont allow Canadian users since they dint want to pay for the content rights.

I stumbled upon Spotify from word of mouth.... I like. The main thing is that I'm really lazy to form playlists, but Spotify integrates your iTunes playlist in there if you like. None of the other music services I've tried (Slacker included) have that, unless I missed it.

There's a premium service for $10/mo. which grants you premium audio (320 kbps) as well as no ads, Spotify on your mobile device, as well as an "offline" mode. I'm gonna stick with the standard quality right now as it seems like the quality is still better then Pandora's standard quality then if it seems worth it over time, I might start getting into it.

If your friends on Facebook use spotify too, you can see the playlists they made and pull songs from there too.

So you guys are two of the forty people in total on G+?

I don't have a purpose for G+ at the moment, though I'm sure I'll join it sooner or later.

I'm going to look more into this "offline" mode... will it let me play all my Spotify playlists without being connected to the internet? Sounds obvious, but yeah
