I wonder if they are going to slow their normal order processing/shipping a bit to make people want this?

They already have amazingly fast shipping, even on the free shipping.

Often my order (4-7 business day shipping, free) arrives in 2-3 business days.

Does not compete IMO. Amazon has about a billion things I can buy, plus streaming service etc. The value isn't even close.

If you order every month, yes,.. once a year? I haven't ordered from newegg in forever; their prices are not better than amazon.

Newegg is great if you are building a PC. Other than that I don't think I have ever bought anything from them unless it was on slickdeals.

They now have will-call pickup at their local warehouse. I've never used it, but that's a nice option for same day pickup.

Yea, newegg is fast for me, but I haven't ordered anything from them since I built my last PC in 2006.

I remember when I lived in SoCal (before will call) i ordered a part late at night, and it arrived at my door in the afternoon

I tends to order all my tech stuff from Newegg. They are just very reliable and consistent.

I order 4-6 times per year, so this may be a decent benefit for me. I wish they would offer some better type of loyalty/reward program, though, especially for business customers.

I treat Newegg like I treat Bestbuys now. I go there to shop, sort, read reviews, take ten choices down to one, then I go to Amazon to actually purchase the item. Lol

If Amazon put a nice sorting "block" in their computer components sections that helped narrow down products by specs like Newegg has it would kill Neweggs business imo.

Im using Amazon and Ebay a lot more in London because we don't have that many big box stores here and its hard to find what you want at them. However, I hate waiting for packages to come. Im not that patient.

Just ordered two HDDs from Newegg yesterday and chose "super-saver" shipping which claims 4-7 business days.

Delivery is scheduled for today according to tracking service.

The new RAM has not shipped yet though...

Meh, I have free Shop Runner (AMEX) but NE regular ground shipping was 3-day max in most cases for me before I started using SR.

amazon student prime is $39. Does not compete, as much as i like newegg. They have a much larger selection of computer hardware than amazon.
