Have you tried all the basic stuff like...:

1. Network setup wizard
2. Make sure you're on the same workgroup...etc?

How can i make sure we are on the same network group?

All i did with old pc's was in 1, create a network drive, and on other pc, go to my computer and map network drive, fill in info from other pc and they connected.

Can you ping the other PC that has the files you need?

If so, you may be able to open an explorer window and enter \\PC-NAME-WITH-FILE\LOCATION-OF-FILES

In vista and XP you can right click "My Computer" or just "Computer" in vista, the click "properties".

In XP there should be a tab like "computer name" or something like that where you can see the name of the machine and the workgroup its on.

In vista, you should be able to right click "computer" and then see the computer name/workgroup etc.

OR, if you know the IP of the computer you're trying to access, you can just do start, run, \\computer ip and it will display a list of all shared items on the target computer.
