Need a little computer help please
Ok I think I have a trojan or something becuase my computer froze and a security pop up came up. So I tried to open my malaware software but nothing would not come up at all.
I figured safe mode would work so I brought up safe mode but still the malaware would not open but I checked some other files and they would open. I jumped on the laptop and DL malaware to a flash drive and then went back to the desktop andtried to open through the flash but still it sits there and does nothing.
Does anyone know why the malaware wont open but other files will?
Thanks for any help

try renaming the exe file that launches malwarebytes it's name should mbam.exe it is found in the C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ that should get it to work. just rename it to anything you want to.
System Restore won't delete any files or pics. It'll return your computer back to the state prior to the infection. However, it will remove any programs that you may have installed after that date.
The reason I ask if you see the name of the malware is because it'll pop up with a window saying that your computer is infected and to click OK to continue with the scan. The names I've come across have been Windows Police Pro, Windows PC Defender, Windows Antivirus Pro, etc. I've used this program called OTM by OldTimer (http://www.infospyware.com/herramientas/otm/) to end the process and then let MBAM do its job.

Start--
All Programs
Accessories
System Tools
System Restore.
Like I said earlier choose a most recent date you know your computer was working properly. You may also want to back up some of your files before hand.

Sorry I just re-read what I wrote and it didn't make any sense to me.
I have a new baby and that lack of sleep is getting to my brain. I think all I was trying to say is no he shouldn't lose any files unless he does a restores and program he installed after that point will be lost.

Reformat. Start making a habit of saving your files to separate partitions that your OS isn't installed to, then if something major happens to your OS... All you have to do is pop in the OS CD and re-install windows and since all your files are on separate partitions... They're all still magically there.
Ok guys I went to try a system restore but when I hit NEXT to begin the restore it justs sits there and does nothing, kinda like I didn't even hit next.
I am backing up my music and pics just in case the computer is down.
Does anyone have anymore suggestions, please???

Try ComboFix. I've used it to rescue my work laptop and my dad's pc. Worked like a charm both times. Download >>>HERE<<<, run it and wait for it to do its thing - could take an hour or so. After it's done, reboot again (it may reboot while it's working) and you should be ok.

Try the Avira rescue CD.

Download it, and burn it to a CD. Boot from the CD, and hopefully it will detect what you've got.
