so I decided to add an additional display to my desktop well I ran the cable to hook my desktop into my projector so I can game on my projector screen/sit in my game chair. anyway the projector uses whatever the connection is called that came out after DVI into a lil adapter to make it VGA to plug into my projector also connected is a TV via HDMI.
when I boot the computer the video goes to the projector automatically and not to the tv. so if I want to use the tv I have to turn the projector on boot up and log in(if I was using the tv last it will switch over automatically at this time)
short of unhooking the projector is there anyway to the video out go to the HDMI at start? I looked all over my BIOS and didn't see anything regarding displays...

You need to set your TV to primary display 1... Your TV must also be on before you turn your computer on.
Go into display properties, and make sure your TV is the primary default. How old is the TV? Your computer may not see it until it feels a physical interaction of you plugging it in.... What video card you have?

tv is set to the ONLY display right now and when I start my computer (tv on projector off) nothing will display on my tv until the windows 7 logon screen. Which would not be a problem but I can also boot in XP and I don't get to see my boot manager or see the bios settings.
I am using a single Nvidia GEFORECE GTX 660

Can you get into BIOS? What motherboard do yo have? You can set priority to PCI boot up but I still think that the TV is only recognized as a TV when Window's drivers kick in at splash screen. Maybe BIOS needs an update? Google your motherboard and the TV as main monitor, I'm sure it's somewhere on overclock.net
I have the same issue with one of my Korean IPS monitors, it won't show anything until Windows starts to load, something to do with scaling or lack of firmware on the monitor.
But I have 3 screens, and I use a small 19" Dell monitor as my BIOS/INFO display tool.

when I have only the tv plugged in to the video card everything displays as should I think the bios can only have one display on intial boot and has a priority on the output somehow putting the hdmi on a lower priority than the dvi-I connection.
I decided to just unhook it for now and will just plug in when I want to use the projector.

Try the Win key + P combo and set it to the projector/external display only option. I know it's confusing but, it seems like your PC sees your projector as the main display and the TV as projector/external display. So if you set it to that you should see the login screen only on the TV though you wouldn't see the initial bios boot screens on the TV.
I've done this recently on two different laptops with success, initial bios boot screens only show on the builtin in laptop screen but once windows boots it switches over to their external monitor and the laptop screen shuts off.

^This feature of course requires Windows 7 or higher

so i just talked with Nvida and they say that the priorieties are set in the VBIOS whic is basically a bios for the graphics card and is set by the manufacture of the card EVGA in my case i would have to talk to them about getting it changed... or i can just unplugg the damn thing when i dont want to use it.
