Motorola V710
Motorola V710
Well my V60i is more then showing its age and i'm looking to upgrade this week.
The only phone that really sparks any interest with my Verizon service is the V710.
Saw some threads about the phones freezing up and was wondering if this is a widespread problem?
Overall how do you V710 users feel about your phone?
Anything worth waiting for down the road?

new phones are always coming out, u should see something that really sparks your intrest if you can wait....
also read up on the v710 on howard forums they are very anal about the phones they write about so u can see the in's and outs....

...because Verizon phones are the only cellphones that work. We know. Sprint, ATT, TMobile, Nextel, Cingular...none of them work.

Hey Chap,
My most recent (third) v710 has been for the most part trouble free, and I like the phone alot. Just yesterday I received my Motorola Bluteooth Car Kit in the mail, and will have it installed Tuesday.
I like the phone alot, and think it's pretty cool. I signed up for Wireless Web, and so far the service is good.
In the next couple weeks, Motorola should be releasing the v810. It will be 3oz. vs. the 4.5 oz. v710, will have many of the features except video capture, but will not have Bluetooth.
Maybe wait for the v810?? Go to www.phonescoop.com and they will have more info on that phone-

Thanks for all the info and help fellas.
I actually walked into the Verizon store looking to get the V710 and the salesman actually talked me out of it. He told me of the freeze problems that phone sometimes has but what really turned me was that I realized i wasn't even gonna use the Bluetooth aspect of that phone. Also i'm real happy with Verizon so i had no plans on switching.
I ended up going with a phone i was familiar with considering a few friends have em, the LGVX6000.
I really wanted that flash camera and the 15-sec Video capability but in the end I’m happy with my choice. I'm more of a no frills type of person when it comes to my cell phones. I use the phone to make calls text message and play games in class. That's about it.
However what i don't like is that no games come directly with the phone so you have to use their "Get it Now" service to DL them. Other then that i love it.

That's the current model. Generally no games come with any of the Sprint phones either, you have to buy and download if you want full version. Otherwise, we do place a fair amount of teasers or pre-loaded games and applications on the phone right out of the box, so you can try them before you buy. They run for a few minutes and quit or whatever and if you like it, you can follow the link and buy it.
The Nokia phones, those still have a lot of built-in games. Partially because they have non-Internet phones so you can't download anyway and mostly because I like Snake and a few of their other games that we don't sell. So Nokia gets to keep some of the full games.

I really didn't think people would play games on their phones...but apparently so.

Well, i've had my V710 for a few weeks now....and this morning the thing just STOPPED WORKING! I changed my ring profile, put it in my pocket, pulled it out 10 minutes later, and the thing wont even turn on. It won't indicate if its charging...
If I lost all my numbers, I'm going to be totally pissed!! I'm heading to Verizon to see what they say. I better have a new phone in my hand ASAP if they can't fix this one.

I can't even begin to comment on the quality of TDMA systems. They speak for themselves

this is so that it would be more convient for cdma users in the US to only have one phone when they travel the world, instead of getting hassled everytime they want to travel...it is a pretty sharp phone...the samsung a790

TDMA is still around believe it or not, and its got the best signal, better than GSM, Many Pre-Paid companies are still on it, Like Tracfone, AT&T, Cingular, And AT&T and Cingular Also have Local Monthly Plans which are on TDMA, TDMA is expected to be around for another 8-10 years, because so many companies still use it.

NO they aren't. If any carrier plans to stay in business in the next few years they need to do the 3G migration path to WCDMA.
