moto e815
moto e815
anyone have this phone, I'm looking to upgrade my lg4500 to this...the key things I'm looking for are clearity of reception and long battery life (I talk 2-3 hours straight with my gf on my cell). All others issues are secondary (though v-cast looks pretty cool.
thoughts?
thoughts?
I have the E815 and I also upgraded from the LG4500.
It’s a great phone. Lots of bells & whistles too.
I can’t really say that it has a great battery life though.
I can’t seem to get more then a day or two standby time out of it.
One excuse Verizon keeps giving me is that I’m in a V-Cast “test area”.
The phone keeps switching from 1X to EV mode as they test the towers and apparently that eats up the battery.
Otherwise, that’s my only complaint after the first few weeks.
Should get better when V-Cast is available in my area.

I picked up the Moto e815 also a few weeks ago, and so far so good.
Like Shawn said, it has a ton of features, some which I probably won't use.
Clarity and reception is really good, especially compared to my old ass LG phone which used to drop calls and lose signal all the time. the e815 is solid in that regard. The camera is pretty good too (for a phone) and the VCAST feature is pretty cool, although I doubt I'll subscribe to it once the 1 month free trial is over.
Battery life seems pretty good so far. Several long calls, bunch of text messages, and playing around with the camera and I still went 2 days before charging.
It was between this phone and the LG VX8100 and I chose the Moto cause I had heard things about the battery problems with the LG, and I wanted to try something new with the moto interface. Hasn't dissappointed so far.

shawn that sux about your phones...verizon just cant get it right for you!
I think i might just pick up the e815...it looks great, and has some stuff that would keep me entertained for a while. Im just not too keen on paying $60 for a bluetooth headset

shawn, its true that if your in an EvDO fridge area and your phone constantly switches between EvDO and 1x it WILL eat up your battery....There is a solution...you can lock you phone into 1x until EvDO is fully available in your area....you can read about it at howardforums.com

I’m just afraid to mess around in the phones service mode.
One wrong button push and your phone is FAWKED UP.
I read a few posts about people who did that.
If there was an easier way to do it in the phone’s menu, I’d turn it off.
Hopefully they get it up and running in my area soon.
unlike the 710, the 815 is pre-loaded with all bluetooth capabilities including OBEX but verizon still limites it to handsfree devices. this can be be bypassed without to much effort though to allow all the BT functions to work. so there is even more that this phone has to offer then what we sell to you

I just got this phone yesterday in a local Verizon store. I switched from Sprint to Verizon due to the fact that my family/girlfriend are on Verizon so it will be better to save those minutes. Anyhow, I got the phone for $199 with a $50 mail-in rebate. Is that good? So, I don't know jack shit about this thing. What do you mean by 1X and EV? I see it but have no clue what it is. Also, when the guy at the store was showing me his VCAST on his e815, it was connecting and streaming videos ridiculously fast. On my phone, it takes like 3 minutes just to connect, and moving from link to link takes a while, and while streaming, it has to stop and buffer quite a few times. Any help would be great. I'm a Verizon n00b.
