it makes a type of beeping noise to let you know your phone is ringing. actually, when you have the heatset active the phone only vibrates but the headset beeps. you just hit the button to answer the call. i wish it would tell you whose calling though. that would be the shit.

I'd stay away from the v710. You should get a deal from bimmer88. I just got the Nokia 7610 and it totally owns the V710. Also, the V710 has been recalled my motorola. Verizon even allowed me to send mine back in for a refund after having it for a few months. Something is wrong with the camerea lens.

It makes a BEEP BEEP Sound in the HS820 I had, Which I would tell you to look into, as it is smaller than the HS850 and also supports Bluetooth 2.0.

But the HS850 I am sure is better if you are more outdoors, less windnoise, due to the extended antenna, maybe a little more talk time

V710 is Verizon, while the 7610 is T-Mobile or GSM, unless he is looking to switch, he doesnt have too much choice

Wasn't looking to switch otherwise I would be looking at different phones. Verizon's service area that I'm typically in, doesn't drop calls like Sprint and Nextel do. Not only that, but w/ free IN calling, I can call my brothers and a lot of my friends free long distance.

Yeah, but what I mean is, if he has the money to buy a V710, he might as well cancel the contract, swallow the $175, like I did and get a $500 phone (which is worth every penny at that price btw) for a just $150 with only a 1 yr contract (as opposed to a 2 year contract with verizon)

His loss would only be $325. The V710 doesn't cost much less than that. Having owned both phones, the upgrade to the 7610 was deffinitely worth it. Also, I'm not sure if the V710 is tri-band, but I have not lost ONE call since I've switched to T-mobile. That could just be the area I live in, just my

You'll see, the V710 REALLY is not worth what it's being priced at. I had to learn it the hard way.

I can get the 710 for 49.99 online discount is $50 and repeat customer is another $100 off 249 original price. I want bluetoth under all circumstances. I'd keep my old phone before I swallowed $325 in losses for a stupid phone.

Huh?? They aren't bulky at all. Compared to the huge BT headsets that motorola has that stick out like a sore thumb, the Jabra headsets are svelt.

I have the BT250 and it is practically hidden from view by your ear when you wear it. It's comfortable and lightweight and the sound quality is excellent.

Just for reference, this is the BT250...

Wow, just last month Verizon had it for $419 w/o a contract and $299 with a 2 year contract AFTER all the rebates.

The only reason I found out about the V710 recall is because the Acura Service Manager told me when I had my tranny replaced. He told him that Motorola discontinued the phone and is just selling the ones that have already been produced, but I guess not.

Sure a couple of issues

http://www.engadget.com/entry/4611617850651474/

If a supposed 1 MP camera takes pictures that I worse than the ones on a $100 phone, I wouldn't call that "minor issues". I personally like to get what I pay for.

Did you also know that Verizon disabled most of the bluetooth functions, like transfering files (mp3s, ringtones) from the computer? They want you to use "Get it Now." Sure, it's good, if the only reason you're getting it is to use it with a wireless bluetooth headset, but I'd rather have a wire and a better phone, like the VX7000, which I don't like either.

And you should deffinitely read this

http://www.nuclearelephant.com/papers/v710.html

This sounds like something the Acura Service department would say regarding the tranny:

Q. So what would you say to the consumer who paid for this phone and expected to receive [these features]?

A. [When a customer buys a phone] there's a level of risk. ... We never advertised these features....

1. They recalled it cause of the camera...that is about it and it is mostly software that had an effect on the camera becaues it was tilted..

2. they crippled bluetooth so that you have to purchase ringtones and games/files...this is so they can survivie..and real business would do this so that they can get the most out of their services

299 is after the rebates but with all the accessories...it really is just 250!!

Nope, they fixed all the bad ones and they are still selling them...why would moto put millions of dollars into the first verizon bluetooth phone and just drop it ?? not happening to so fast....

That's what the Acura service manager told me, I didn't say it was what they did.

So I guess T-Mobile isn't a real business since I can transfer files without a problem.

And I'm just trying to help him out, nothing else. I've owned the phone and really wasn't that impressed. If I had to do it again, I would have stayed with the VX7000, which I sent back to them before the 15 day satisfaction guarantee in order to get the V710.

And I don't claim that they don't, but I'd rather have a carrier who gives me what I pay for rather than trying to make money off of me.

Unless of course you work for verizon.
