Any advice on what do get for cell phones? I currently have an unlocked Iphone 5s and Iphone 5. Im keeping the 5s (until the 6 is out), my son gets the 5 and my wife wants a 5s (32 gig). All 3 of us will need voice, text and data. I need a lot of data but the rest don't. Philly area, Tmobile seems crappy there. ATT and Verizon are strong.
Well, what do you want? I know some people who love/hate android, and some people who love/hate iOS. All for totally valid reasons.
You have to consider the pros and cons of each infrastructure, and also take into account the pros/cons of the hardware of the phone you choose as well.

Wife and I are iPhone users and have been happy with Verizon.
If you ever went to Android, it seems that AT&T gets the new Android phones a LOT sooner than most any other carrier
Does your wife get a corporate discount with either carrier? This is ultimately what would be the deciding factor for me.

Since I just got a new HTC One M8, I highly recommend it. I work in NYC, so no issues with reception at work. However, I live in the burbs, so I get zero reception at home. Not an issue, since most TMobile Android phones have wifi calling.

Verizon costs more but is definitely worth the extra in Philly, everyone I know with T Mobile and ATT still drop calls. No iPhone experience but Vzw has been very reliable. I know you want an iPhone but my wife has a Note 3 it's been awesome, I'm getting a Note 4 in 2-3 months. Don't forget to check employer discounts, I get 21% off of Vzw.

I've been using Tmobile for ~3years around Philly and never had a big problem. There are certain places though where I get no bars so it will really depend on where you are. In downton Philly, I've had zero problems.
Family plan for 3 will be 90+ tax to start with all three lines getting 1gb of data and unlimited talk and text. 3gb will be 10 extra, 5gb will be 20, unlimited will be 30 extra per line.

No, he's right about $170. One of the phones will be new and will require the subsidy. So it would be two existing phones at $15 each plus one subsidized one at $40. With the plan, that comes to $170.
The only thing I like about Tmobile is that if you do go over your allotted internet bandwidth, they won't charge you more if you go over, they will just throttle you down to basic slow speed.
AT&T and the rest will charge you an arm and a leg.

What about the Edge program where you pay a little each month towards a new phone a little each month, then sell what you have on eBay? Damnit I need to stop pushing Verizon I hate them other than reliability. They actually did work with me on an early upgrade when my wife lost her phone but other than that I hate them.
4 lines
unlimited talk/text
10GB shared data
all for $160/month
I can't find anything about it online. I get back to the US tomorrow and will call them.
Click on the "family pricing" tab. Looks like with only 3 lines, it's $145 as mentioned earlier...
Drew: The $160 is comprised of four lines. $100(base amount for the shared 10GB)+$15(line without a contract)+$15(line without a contract)+$15(line without a contract)+$15(line without a contract)=$160 plus tax.
Drew: And each line with a contract is $40 instead of the $15.
Drew: A phone may be without a contract when you bring your own device, purchase one through AT&T Next or at the No Annual Contract price.
Drew: Our Mobile Share plans will provide you with unlimited talk nationwide to any number in the US and unlimited text(which also covers unlimited international text) with a data amount you can use to tether by using your phone as a hot spot.

I pay (after taxes and fees) $93/month on Verizon for 1 line with hotspot data sharing, 3 GB of data, unlimited talk/text. Both Verizon and ATT are very close in pricing from what I've seen.
