They actually had this on display in one of their Redmond campus building lobbies when I was there a year ago.

It's even cooler in person than it is in the videos.

It's licensed technology with new software developed by Microsoft.

Looks cool, but it needs a porn angle to be successful.

Also, I see the biggest challenge here (as with most new technologies) is the user interface. It really needs to be dummy proof, yet powerful. Not easy.

.....though strangely reminiscent of Apple's multi-touch technology on the upcoming iphone. Looks like Redmond has their copy machines running again! I'm betting the legal team at Apple is already deep into checking this out!

And since it runs on Vista....it's BOUND to be full of bugs.

Yes, because it's impossible that MS invented something cool. It must be a copy of something Apple did.

The multi-touch technology is licensed/purchased from PerceptivePixel. Microsoft invented the "Surface" software.

you sound like when people were talking about the first PCs saying "why the hell would someone ever want a PC @ home?? there's definitely NO market for Personal Computers" that was what like 40 yrs ago? ... now you'd be hard pressed to find a home in a major city without a PC whether it be a laptop/desktop

I can almost promise this wont get that big. Now if they take it and implement it elsewhere or when it gets really cheap...mayyyybbbbeeee. Kind of like those faggy laser keyboards...sorry I like feeling my keys.

besides being a "big-ass table", this is why it won't get that big:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qLNB90GttX0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qLNB90GttX0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Eh, touch screen stuff isn't that new guys. People have been doing this with tablets for a long time now... Microsoft is just debuting their control system for a touchscreen.

And yes, no way a touch screen table would last very long. Especially if you used it like a table... spilled soda, beer, scratches...
