laptop cdroms

laptop cdroms

is it even possible to remove the internal cdrom and replace it with another one?

is it a removable model? you could probably do that. what brand is it? maybe you can buy an upgrade from the manufacturer

its a dell inspiron 8200. i will recieve it sometime this week. i got it cheaper because it has only a 24x cdrom. im planning on getting a cdrw/dvd combo drive. id like to get an internal one, if i cant then ill settle with an external.

every cdrom is different by makers. the only place you could get it is probably from the maker themselves. so say if you want to upgrade to a internal, removable cdrw/dvd, it's gonna cost you $$$ like a few hundreds. that's why it's better off buying it from the beginning

the one on the left is removable, there is a screw on the bottom that you have to take out and then you can remove the fixed drive. i have the 8000, so there shouldnt be a big difference in it...here is a pic of the screw you gotta take out...

oh yea, BTW the combo drives are expensive, i found a used one a 8x cdrw/8x dvd for 280, so i can imagine how much the new ones are...
