iTunes question

How do I remove the pause between songs on an album that were recorded to play continuously? Can that be changed after they have been uploaded with a pause?

thx

There's a setting under Get Info>Options called "Part of Gapless Album". Simply check that box.

If you're using Windows, the Get Info menu is accessed by right-clicking on the track. On the Mac, IIRC 'Get Info' is found under the File menu.

If there's additional silence in the track, you can manually adjust the start and stop times for the track on that same menu.

hmmm, there used to be a setting to change in iTunes to disable this but I can't seem to find it now. Hopefully it's cause they got rid off this feature cause IDK why anyone wanted silence added automatically in between each track if it wasn't there in the first place. You can always try removing the silence manually using a great free program like audacity. If the silence isn't in the source (cd) you're importing from then just try deleting the version you have now and reimport it with iTunes cause it's seems it doesn't do this anymore with the newer versions. I'm sure Sarlacc will correct me if I'm wrong...

I did this but it is still leaving a 2 sec gap with this particular album. I thought it was just doing it on my iPod which is an older version, but it's doing it with iTunes too.

It probably got added when you imported the CD

I'm gonna try importing Abbey Road in itunes 8.0.2 and see if it adds the silence

Yup the new version of iTunes doesn't automatically add silence between tracks, Abbey Road plays as it should.

nope. Since I never use itunes, I launched it for the first time agreed to the EULA, popped in the CD and it asked me if I wanted to import it and I clicked OK. Then after I imported it I went to the beatles in my music collection and played the album and it worked.

Did you import the cd using an old version of iTunes? Within ituens right-click on the track that you're having trouble with and chose get info and there in the summary tab it should say "encoded with:". What does it say in that field?

Do you want the remove the gap for playback on iTunes or do you only care for it when you burn the disk? Because iirc when you click "burn disk" it brings up a dialogue box that lets you choose the gap between songs. There is an option for "0 seconds."

Try highlighting ALL of the songs in that album. Then do Get Info and the "Part of Gapless Album" thing. I just tried it and it seems to work fine.

Go to preferences - playback and then adjust the crossfade, which works in iTunes but does not transfer over to iPod. I don't have an iPod in front of me, but if you have a playlist of random songs I really like the crossfade when listening with shuffle on, sometimes it sounds really cool.
