Itunes question

I keep all my music on one computer in the house and network it to other computers. So my library on itune is all networked. I am guessing 15000 files being networked is making itunes crash. I was curious if there is a fix? I am also guessing that it is constantly checking the files or something?

Do you get any sort of error messages or anything? Are your different computers actually sharing the same music folder, or are you using shared libraries within itunes?

Shared computer: Windows XP first gen pentium 4 1.59ghz, 768mb, 2tb storage (5 seagates of various sizes), and running through a DDWRT Linksys router.

Laptop: 15 inch macbook pro, entry level one

There is no error just very slow then if I try to do something like scroll down it pauses for a second. Sometimes the pinwheel starts spinning and I have to force quit it. I share it by *add library* then go to the folder being shared (basically one folder with 700 plus sub folders each being an album)

Do you network between the two computers in any other way? Speeds ok?

Try setting up your desktop to share its library, and then access those files through the itunes shared library. I've been running my 80gb library that way, works great.

How big is your library? I'm guessing well over 100gb.... if you are running a 802.11g network its probably just slow to load that much. Even on 802.11n that would take a few seconds.

No its about the size of your library, started building my library back in the day when songs were 2-3mb.
