Ipod Touch Battery
Ipod Touch Battery
So I'm ordering my touch today, but I have a question. What's the deal with the batteries for them? I know I can send it to apple when it dies in 1-2 yrs for like 75 bux but is there anything else I can do? It's mostly going to be in my car, constantly charging so maybe it won't be as big of a deal. What do you guys do??

Hopefully no one has had to replace their iTouch battery cause it's only been out for 6 months. I believe the iPhone battery is soldered on and can't be replaced with out a soldering iron but I can't remember if they changed that for the iTouch or not. I know theres a few differences between the two but IDK about that.
these instructions are for the Iphone, but I do not imagine the touch will be much different.

I recently purchased a Touch - had to take it back. Safari browser would not work with the net. I have 4 iPods - 3 have had to be replaced within a week. Apple's QC is pretty poor IMHO but the products are a cash cow for Apple. I have also recently swithced over to Mac from PC - what took me so long? I was clawing and scratching to not do the changeover but now I am glad I did.
^ Dood, that has nothing to do with the topic... Water-S?
To the OP... I wouldn't let that be a judging factor imo, in 2 years you may decide to get something better and if not, $75 isn't that much.

ok good! I just want to make sure that after my 400 dollar investment I will be able to use it in 5-10 years down the road, although I probably won't as the more tech advanced products come out I'll be buying them! The reason I'm worried is because the guy at circuit city said there is no way to replace them...
Well I bit the bullet and bought the 16 GB from circuitcity.com...How do you guys like it overall? whether it'd be mods that you did to it, the movie aspect, internet or just the music. let me know what you guys think!
Thanks, Chris
Thanks, Chris

There are places you can send them to replace the batteries for about $50.

I use it for tons of stuff. You are lucky, the 1.1.4 jailbreak took forever to solidify. It is really a hand held computer. It even runs a scaled version of OSX. After jailbreaking, you can even run command line BSD.
I do this:
-read (I am re-reading the Thomas Covenant books)
-jot notes
-surf
-listen to music
-play dominos
-check my gmail
-check the weather
-play NES and PSP on an emulator
-etc. etc.
There are hundreds of apps already made, and with the SDK there will be even more commercial apps available.
You heard it here first: EVERY other hand held device is doomed. Apple is way, way, way ahead. Electronic Arts made a 3D demo game with the SDK in two weeks. It (along with the iphone) can and will do anything that any other phone, PDA, or even small game system can.

that's been available for months on jailbreak'd Iphones/Itouch with the new exchange server integration and the app store, the Iphone will become the most dominate handset in the marketplace especially when it launches with 3G.
