Hey whiskers can you tell me how you got the RTM version of Vista SP1? I can't install IE8 cause I'm still running a pre release version of SP1.

There are still applications out there that are built specifically for IE which is flat out stupid IMO. Especially these days when many people have switched to FireFox.
We have applications here at JPL where some work only in netscape, some only in IE, some that behave differently in all three browsers.
It's a friggin' nightmare.

where did you pull that stat from. My companies analytics from last month show around 50-60%

Big Block go VROOOM!
IE still rules the roost in most of the business world. None of the other browsers can give the fine-grained centralized admin control that Microsoft provides. Doesn't mean much about how good it actually is as a browser though.

Many studies have been done with different numbers, some say higher, some say lower, but they all show that IE has been dropping since Microcrap said they were done with IE6. When Firefox started taking away microsofts market share they said, oops, we aren't as good as we thought, and so came out with IE7.

i can understand it using like 100+mb of memory when i have multiple tabs open, but when i close all the tabs and goto a site like google, why the hell is it still using 100mb.

So far I have been able to avoid IE7. So I see no need for this
#20
You can't avoid it if you use Windows, you have to use it to d/l FF.
#21
One thing that sucks about FF is the dictionary. The one that Google has in the toolbar for IE blows FF's away. It can't even tell that toolbar is ONE word.

IE is horrid to use...I've Reformatted my laptop and desktop and IE still takes about a minute and a half to load. FF only takes a few seconds.

hey I'm curious if any of you guys are also having trouble passing the Acid2 test with IE 8.
To take the test go to acid2.acidtests.org
If you past the test the image you see should look like this
when I do it in IE 8 with Vista it looks like this instead
MS claims that IE 8 passes the Acid2 test so IDK what's the deal.
On a side note the Acid 3 test just came out and you can test that too if you want but currently there isn't a browser that passes it.

Which version of FF are you using? I just tried it in FF 3.0 beta 3 and it passed acid2.

My god, isn't the whole browser war over with yet....If it wasn't for Microsoft, we would still have to buy a browser....
