Internet Advice Needed

So this week I plan on buying some internets from Time Warner. I am currently living in the Triad area in North Carolina and Time Warner seems like the best option. I wanted to ask what other people's experiences are/were with Time Warner.

The road runner high speed option looks good. $35 per month with 7mbps speeds

What do yall think? What else should I be considering?

I have TW Cable in Charlotte. Internet only, no TV, phone, etc.

Great connections. No noticable Down Time.

I'd never take DSL or Wireless Broadband cards over Cable and am VERY leary of satellite (if the program guide is *that* slow, how do they figure the internet is going to be faster?).

Time Warner seems like a good option, especially with the speed you mentioned. What will you be doing with your internets? Will you be surfing or doing a lot of stealin...er, downloading?

I surf a lot but also download a lot of music from Amazon and other online retailers. I'll be broadcasting a live dj radio show too so I need a connection that won't lag.

I have Time Warner and have been up and down for the passed 2 weeks. Now it is down more than it is up. This weekend it was only up for about 3 hours total. I spent about 200 of my cell phone minutes this weekend, just talking to them. IMO the customer service is shit. I am almost positive that they hire monkeys off the street. They are sending someone out today to fix it.

As far as choices, I am stuck with Time warner because I don't want to go to DSL.

I am one of the few who has DSL through AT&T and so far (it's been about a year) I haven't had any problems. It's not as fast as cable, but a very consistent 3 Mbps down and 512k up for $25 a month works for me. Comcast is too pricey in my area, especially since I'm not interested in fancy TV packages. Someday I may move to VoIP telephone service (poor cell reception in my house so I need a land line of some sort for the bad days) and at that time I'll definitely consider Comcast

I'm content so far.

I would consider this if I had a landline.

Tell me about it. I'd rather not have it, but every time I think about giving it up cell reception has gone into the toilet. Hopefully when a buy a home in the near future, I'll be in an area with better reception and in a structure that reflects the radio signal less.

Must be the area. Cox and Comcast have outages all the time in my area. So far TW has 100% up time for me.
