HP Printer Help needed!!!

We have a Lasjet 5 with an internal jet direct card served on a Win2k server with jetadmin installed. Printing is great except when printing a web page from a web browser, it takes many minutes to print, even when printing directly without spooling. Memory has been added, no effect. When printing via parallel cable directly from a laptop, web pages print immediately. Tried to upgrade firmware with HP download manager, but it won't finish. Different drivers have been tried, no change. Thanks for any insight you may provide!

1-Check that win2k server and make sure that there isn't anything wrong with it.

2- What protocols do you have enabled on the printer? win2k server? client? Make sure that they are all the same.

LAST OPTION- reset the jetdirect card and then flash the firmware.

Jet Direct sucks ass....I ran into similar problems on my network....GO DIRECTLY HERE and download this to your print server:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...ard&os=&tech=+

Remove the Win2K Jet Direct Port and uninstall the printer from the print server.

Install this Network Printer Install Wizard

Install the printer using this interface...it's so easy. Just follow the directions. Then re-map to the printer and test. I bet you will be dead-on balls perfect.

Direct printing kicks ass! I use that as redudancy in the labs i manage However, it moves you away from central administration and that's a pain in the ass.

I always have found that creating a plain old LPR port and installing the printer to that port is the easiest and most reliable method....I hate HP's JetAdmin SHIT!!!
