They used to sell Wireless Access Points, that you could just add to the router, but with Wireless routers being so cheap, it's easier to just buy a wireless router. What kind of card do you have in the laptop (make? 802.11b?)

1. Get a Wireless Access Point and add to existing network
2. Get a new Wireless Router and reconfigure existing network
3. Drag Ethernet cable around to notebook
4. Steal wireless access from your neighbors wide open wireless network

Cheaper Solution

Buy a New Wireless Router and replace the old router.

not really cheapest, what if he has, 5 other computers linked up wired, he would have to buy a card for each computer if they dont have a wireless card, you can hook up your new wireless router on top of your wired one

Most, if not all new wireless routers have at least 4 ethernet ports.

Exactly, the 4 ports were implicit in my recommendation

But Raheel, your point point will make sense when more than 4 ethernet ports are required; just using the old router as a switch (just disabling DHCP and avoiding the WAN port)

so to do this..i would do wall->cablemodem->normalrouter->wireless then just leave the 3 comps hooked up to normal router and wireless for the laptop and disable DHCP on old router?

If you have 3 computers and one laptop, you should get rid of the old normal router, and then plug the 3 computers in the new wireless router.

Tucker Carlson would be less of a bow-tie-wearing douche if I had a big screen TV to watch him.

I will follow wsklar reply. You dont wanna mess around with more than one device for now. Get a new wireless router, replace it with the old router you have, hook up the 3 computers to the networks ports and then connect the laptop via wireless.

Now, if you absolutely require to have more than 4 network ports, then the solution will be:

modem -> new wireles router -> old router (disabling DHCP and not using the WAN port on this one)
