Help with Excel

So I am building a new worksheet and trying to incorporate some cool tricks that I have seen on other spreadsheets.

What I want to do is be able to have a plus/minus sign and be able to hide certian rows by this sign-very similar to exploring your hard drive if you will.

How do I do this?

Just to clarify, this is not a simple hide/unhide through the toolbar at the top; rather, a plus/minus sign next to a certian cell that will expand it out to show detial.

Select the rows or columns you want to hide and go to Data -> Group & Outline -> Group

The AutoOutline feature works well on spreadsheets with summary rows or columns, but I think in your case, the manual outline would do what you want.

You can also create a drill-down effect with a PivotTable if you want to quickly give access to summary data.

and they're huge time-savers if you deal with monthly reports. I've taught them to a few people in my company who say they've saved 2 whole days at the end of every month because they're so much faster at summarizing the data they collect into information they need.

There are a bunch of good video tutorials on Data Pig Technologies, one of which shows exactly how to create a drill-down: http://www.datapigtechnologies.com/ExcelMain.htm

I record my own demos here, but unfortunately I can't share them. The guy at Data Pig is doing a great job so I refer a lot of people to his site.
