Got a color Blackberry for work

... and it would be great if the keypad worked!

defective right out of the box! at first the zero and the spacebar didnt work, then the whole QWERTY went.

gotta wait till friday to get a new one.

any one else use one? i think they're pretty hot, but def takes some getting used to. using it as a phone totally sucks. call volume isn't loud at all....

think they are over rated unless you really are addicted to your email...phone is crap and keys on the device are way to small..

i perfer a regular phone...or i like the treo (but even that is a little bulky)

brush up on your phone info amateur...

blackberry uses an enterprise server to eliminate the need to pull email from the server, which makes it ideal for corporate email on an access or domino platform. if i were accessing pop3 email all day, then what device i get wouldn't matter. its for work tho.

its not overrated, maybe underrated. how is the phone crap? have u used it? how BIG do u want the keys to be? either way, its an email device, not a phone per-se.

you're very quick to put forth opinion without actually having a valid one...

the blackberry is a cool little device. and espically now that your company does not have to obtain a license for email they are getting much more popular.

i used to have one. the 7280. i had to get rid of it because i could not seem to separate myself from reading all my work emails. even during weekends, i would end up thinking of work because the emails would not stop. i would have my personal mails redirected to the device as well as using the BES for work.

the phone function wasn't good. if u use it more as a PDA, then all is well. volume was low, reception was bad. you had to look for a sweet spot when trying to listen during conversations. you move the earpiece a little off your ear and you don't hear a thing. i also had to upgrade the firmware to allow speed dialing. it also did not feel like a phone when talking. quite uncomfortable to the ear. again, if you use it more for emails and as a PDA, it's a great device. the keys are perfect. much better than the treo. better spaced apart.

my first one broke. all keys stopped working. at&t gave me a new one but i got tired of it. i ended up selling it in ebay.

I use one for work and it's perfect for its intended purpose. I get emails on the fly...actually before it shows up in my inbox on my desktop. The phone is great. I have a motorola MPX200 from AT&T that sucks in regards to reception. I get great reception with the Blackberry. The only thing about the phone that sucks is its hard to hear if you dont have your ear directly over the speaker. But as you said...its not really a phone...just has the feature.

I wish the keys were smaller...that would make the whole device smaller.

i agree. i tried using it as a phone for a few phone calls here and there and the volume was way too low. u gotta find the right spot to hear loud and clear.

another thing i noticed that i didnt like. i was driving home in the dark and the phone rang, so naturally the display lit up. now, when i answered the phone call pushing in the jog dial, the backlight went out. i had no clue if i was in the phone call or what.... weird.

BlackBerry Wireless, a secure wireless email service, is now
available to employees in the US. The offering follows an
extremely successful BlackBerry Wireless pilot conducted by
North America IT during Q2-Q3.

I am actually glad that we decided to not use blackberrys and went with the treo's. Yes, the blackberry would be nicer in the sense that you dont have to connect to the mail server to get updates in mail, but we got a software that connects to the mail server every few mins to get updates so its not all that bad. With that software, we were able to get the treo and have a pda phone with more functionality than the blackberry. Plus we all love the touch screens.
