Can someone clarify the match that Google offers? I thought I read that they were also doing the same as iTunes Match but without the annual. I think Engadget was saying Google Music was like iTunes Match and then some.

There's no matching at all.

I actually read the same thing and was confused a bit. They worded it poorly.

No matching, but they do allow you uploads of up to 20,000 songs for free. Songs purchased are at 320kbps and don't count towards your 20K. Streaming the songs is free as well.

Just to clear up any possible confusion. Purchases are matched between the devices and cloud.

For example, if you buy a song on your phone, it shows up on your computer and tablet via the cloud, for free.

Yeah there's no matching. You can still upload your songs or purchase your songs. Its automatically accessible everywhere just like before. For purchased songs, you get a "Save to Computer" on the web interface if you wanted to make a physical backup for your other devices. Also, since songs are DRM free, well I think you know where I'm going with this. Any way, I think the idea all around is great. Its nice that they stuck for it being free and most people will probably never reach 20,000 songs. Supposedly, a web and music manager redesign is coming in the near future. I hope one day we can upload songs from our phones or tablets but other than that I really like using it. Haven't looked back on getting an iPod or another MP3 player since. Well I guess the Galaxy S with Voodoo Sound also helps a lot.

BTW, the Google Music Library is giving away like a couple of hundred songs and albums. I got free Pearl Jam Live in Toronto 9/11/11, a bunch of popular songs, and I heard about some Dave Matthews.

Thanks CGFEB. I got that Stones song. Between Spotify and Google music to house Metallica and Led Zeppelin who aren't on Spotify I'm covered on my music.

FYI for any iPhoners your database might not update after adding new songs. I uploaded songs last night and they wouldn't show. I restarted the phone, closed all the browsers, logged off Google and everything. You have to go to settings - Safari - databases and delete the google music databases. You were likely prompted to increase your db to 25MB prior to doing this. Once deleted go back to google music via Safari and you'll be prompted again about the db increase. Once done should be updated.

No prob. Yeah Safari is weird...I had the same issue with my gf's iPhone. Just told her to use a different browser. lol. Google will probably release an iPhone app eventually unless Apple decides to block them out due to competition to iTunes? Don't forget that you can manage which devices can access your Google Music on the Google Music website. I think you're limited up to 8 or 9 devices but you can deactivate devices on there. Not sure if simultaneous streaming works. Haven't really tried it.

Yeah Safari is sucking. My wife has been using this and she says via Safari it's turrible. I'll tell her to get another browser.

Don't forget any purchases can be downloaded to a computer in 320 kbps format and its DRM free. So you can always manually transfer it to any device or iTunes.

Google Music now allowing you to download your whole library to your computer after uploading them. Pretty cool:

US Android users, we’re rolling out a few new Google Music features to make your experience even better:

You already know that you can upload up to 20,000 songs to Google Music for free and stream them to your +Android device. Now we’re making sure the process is just as smooth for you to retrieve your music from the cloud. We just rolled out a new version of Music Manager that gives you the option to download all your songs from Google Music, including songs you’ve uploaded yourself and those you’ve purchased in the Google Music store. Your music will still be accessible from the cloud, so you will continue to have all the benefits of cloud access. Now if your computer crashes, you’ll have a great backup for your music. You can learn more in our help center article here: http://goo.gl/f4MrD

And, for those of you that have enjoyed being able to share full plays of your purchased tracks with your circles on Google+, now you can easily share +YouTube videos for songs you’ve uploaded to Google Music. Click the dropdown next to the song title to share the video with your circles, and your friends on Google+ can see what really gets you moving.

And add an official iOS app if Apple permits. The unofficial one kind of blows.

I mentioned this in the Android thread but forgot about this thread. Anyone else having a problem with incorrect album art? Songs without album art get stuck with the same incorrect art and it's incredibly annoying.

The problem may have something to do with me importing directly from my iTunes directory initially instead of my music folder.

I get it as well. Not exactly sure when it happened though as I remember it used to not do it. Also, I'm not sure if it only does it with the Google Music app as I've never noticed it using the MIUI music player back in the day.
