Google Inbox
Anyone using it?
I got my invite and downloaded it on my tablet to try it out.
I am hitting a stumbling block I would love to hear suggestions regarding.
ISSUE: The concept of marking an email as "done". When you mark it as done, it no longer appears in the Inbox, and is the same as using the "archive" function in the old gmail. Unfortunately, ALL my years of email in my inbox (I never archived anything) need to be marked as 'done' for Inbox to work as it is designed. to accomplish this I use the old interface to mark them ALL as archived. Problem is, using Inbox, when I look at those old messages in "Old" they appear with the oldest at the top of the list and sorted by date that were marked as "old" or "archived", not by their email date...

For it to work as designed, you basically need to archive all your old mail if you left it in the inbox like most people. Not a huge deal, but it takes a little work...
Apparently selecting "all" for 12k mail items was a bit of a burden for gmail...
I really like the interface though. Not sure I will totally adopt it (for browser use, you need to use chrome and I have been pretty happy with FF lately).

because; the new concept is to see only your "pinned" emails.
everything that is archived is done and "doesnt matter" so to speak.
I ran into the same road block until I changed the way I think.
from this day onward; I have to "pin" the important things.
I cant simply go back and look at the archive. that's what the web based gmail is for.
Inbox is just simply pinning your important items so that you can see them easily.
Ive started to pin my purchases, tracking, and to do list.
if I want to go back to see an email that is not pinned, I have to remember the title, or use the web based gmail to sort through archive.

honestly, its pretty frustrating to learn a new system every time google thinks they can improve something.
while I find this idea fantastic and it works for me(inbox), I hope its easier to explain to others like my mom for example.

Well, regarding the starred items, I searched and found a workaround.
Create a new label in gmail called Starred_Old (anything really, just not "starred" as gmail wont allow it).
Add all your currently starred items to this label.
New label will appear in Inbox and can be used as a "place for important stuff that does not need to be in the inbox proper"

I love Inbox. It's my go to app on my phone now.
I have my security camera/baby monitor send out emails whenever it detects sound or motion. So I typically get like 25 emails at a time whenever my baby wakes up. It was always so annoying to click on those 25 emails to delete them. But now with Inbox, it groups them together automatically for easy deletion.

Yea I'm liking in box. Makes it so much easier to "archive" emails. I never really cleared out my inbox before. I'd only archive an email if it was one i knew I could from the notification tray.
The groupings and being able to archive many at once has cleared up my inbox a lot.

Never had an iPhone. I think the interface works really well with InBox.
