Speaking of the Chrome Web App Store, it just went live today. It's like the Apple app store and looks like the itunes store, a little too much actually. Anyways if you're smart enough and have made the switch you can run these apps which are basically specially coded websites (probably a lot of HTML 5) that you can access and do certain tasks. There's a sports illustrated one, Amazon shopping, photo editing, etc. basically a wide variety of apps like you'd see on the iPad or something.
Try it out!

Also they announced another cool feature. You know the omnibox from the google search page? Yeah it's coming to the browser. I used the beta of it a month or two ago and it's pretty darn cool. you just type in a phrase in the box and it does a search or if you start typing in an address it starts loading the suggested result based on your history. So if I type in "en" engadget.com will be the first result for me and start loading even before I hit the enter key. Same thing with search results. This feature came out a while ago in the dev build but now it's coming in Chrome 9, along with the sandboxed adobe flash plugin. Seems like we're gonna have to wait a little longer on hardware accelerated HTML 5, like what's in IE9 and partially there in FF4 betas.

The sizzle in the Steak
I SOLVED IT!!
I'm pretty sure I solved my "gmail takes FOREVER to load" issue in Chrome.
I did some registry "cleaning" with CCleaner......and boom goes the dynamite....no more lag for gmail in chrome....
Hopefully this solved it.

Does anyone remember how to do the "about:x" trick for blocking adds? Im having issues loading flash files. Most notably Vevo on youtube will not work and now Super Bowl Ads wont work. It also blocks some sites that are all flash and im pretty sure it makes drop down menus work funny. Any ideas?

It’s not very practical. It has a lot of hardware issues. Screen flickers at times. Mouse pad goes unresponsive or stuck on highlight. Sound works half of the time on youtube. Watching embedded youtube is impossible; video stutters. Flash videos also stutter. No file management so using it to upload files is impossible. 3G never works! Ive got it to work once for a few minutes and its wifi antenna is pretty weak.
Most of this is explained by the fact that its a beta product. Still, the file management thing really gets me. It’s a fundamental flaw IMHO. I don’t think people are this hardcore into cloud computing. You can’t even use a thumb drive. I think people and businesses still want to have files and what not with them (CD, thumb drives etc) and the CR48 makes it impossible to do so . If they can work in a file management system that lets you upload, download and transfer files, it will work just fine.

Hard to say. If it were me, I would not pay more than $175 for it. But Im broke so Its cool to be apart of the CR48 program and help build the product in some capacity. Having a SSD netbook is cool. Perfect for quickly checking something on the internet. But, it will in no way replace anything you have now and does not enhance your life in any way. If anything, it makes things more difficult since many sites don’t work, the hardware has some bugs, and the whole file management thing. As an example, I was helping my mom with her resume and I had it on a thumb drive. I had my Cr48 with me and she wanted me to look over some things with her. But I had to explain to her that the CR48 couldn’t use a thumb drive and even if it could, then how would I view the word doc? Google Docs sometimes works but her resume is heavily formatted which Google docs does not like. It wont in any way replace your phone, laptop, desktop, or tablet.
That being said, treat it as a new odd toy and have fun with it.

If you had a windows live ID (and I know you do) she could've emailed you the resume and then you could open it with office web apps....
You don't deserve your Cr-48, you should give it to me.....

Using Chrome, is there ANY way on AZine to not have some text box pop up where ever my pointer is on the main firm pages? SOOOO annoying. I don't mind not seeing the thread preview if I can disable this. Happens on my BB too, but not so bad on FF.

I hate how when I type in letters in the url window, it automatically "suggests" links that I bookmarked. Took me the longest time to figure out why some porn links kept coming up, I kept clearing by browsing history to no avail ^#%@# got me into some trouble with the gf. Does anybody know how to disable these automatic suggestions so that when the person types in 'a', it doesn't helpfully display the link titled "Brooke milano wants A cock sandwhich"? (short of deleting all my porn bookmarks)
k thx

Even for non porn stuff, I would think this would be a cause of some concern if you didnt want personal bookmarked sites to automatically be displayed.
