You could probably set it so that the phone thingamajig nearest to you would start ringing instead of everything.

Looks awesome and I used to have a flat top that was very simaliar, you just ran your finger in a circle on a flat surface to turn the burner up or down and it would light up.
When the kids move the phone onto the counter, are they now talking to the counter? The phone was way over on the other side but yet she could hear them I would assume and it almost looked like she could see them
